The metafields are visible in the product bulk edit view but not in the product view or product view filters. Seeing as this is the main view for organising products it is very inefficient not to have metafields available for sorting and filtering. Surely can’t be too hard to implement as it is in the bulk edit view anyway.
This is a major blocker for organising products so I would consider it a priority feature to add.

@oboult – be very cautions granting access to your store admin. Sharing your collab code is not dangerous, but blindly accepting collab account requests or without checking the requested permissions (and making sure they are absolutely minimal and necessary for the task you need performed) is dangerous.
Unfortunately we hade several incidents with forum members granting access to other forum members…

I agree this would streamline product management a lot, especially for stores that rely on organization via metafields. As a practical workaround, you can use saved collections or tags along with your metafields as a way to filter and manage your day-to-day work. Once these features are implemented you will be able to also mass edit metafields with the bulk editor and use collections for fast navigation until you can filter and sort natively by metafields in the main product view.

Completely valid point, and you are right that it makes no sense to have metafields available in bulk edit but not in the main product view or filters.
Post this on the Shopify Community Feature Request board and ask others to upvote it. Shopify monitors that board, and this is exactly the kind of practical workflow issue that gets traction when enough merchants back it.
