Currently, we have a series of flat-rate shipping charges based on the amount of the order, e.g.:
$ 0 to $20 = $5.95
$ 20.01 to $30 = $8.95
$ 30.01 to $50 = $10.95
etc.
We would like to add a $2.00 surcharge or handling fee for shipments to Alaska and Hawaii. Apparently, handling fees aren’t available for flat rates, so how do I add a surcharge, or a new set of flat rates, for these two states?

Thank you for reaching out and providing that information to me.
The best thing you can do is remove Alaska and Hawaii from your shipping zone and create a new one with just Alaska and Hawaii in it. This way, you can add the $2 to each rate. I will share my example below.
Make sure to remove Hawaii and Alaska from your current shipping zone, so your customer only sees the new rates created with the extra $2.

Thanks Emily, unfortunately that’s the first thing I tried, but there is no way to add the products to that profile without removing them from the first one.

Sorry about that. You will need to create a shipping zone within the general shipping profile. This will allow you to have all the same products, just different rates depending on where the product is shipping to.
