Add SKU as bulk manually - Possible?

Topic summary

Main issue: Request to paste a list of ~45 unique SKUs per product directly into Shopify’s bulk editor from Excel, without using CSV export/import. The bulk editor only replicates a single value when dragging and doesn’t accept multi-cell paste as intended.

Key clarifications:

  • Shopify’s bulk editor does not support pasting multiple distinct values into a column. SKU = Stock Keeping Unit. CSV = comma-separated values file.
  • Recommended workflow: export products to CSV, edit SKUs in Excel, then re-import. Options include overwriting existing products or deleting and reimporting. Always back up and preserve CSV formatting.

Targeted changes: It is possible to update only specific products by filtering the CSV (e.g., by handle, product ID, tags) and importing that subset, rather than the full catalog.

Alternatives: Consider paid apps that offer enhanced bulk editing capabilities.

Outcome/status: No native, manual paste solution in the bulk editor. Workaround is CSV-based updates or third‑party apps. Discussion remains a limitation acknowledgment rather than a resolved feature request.

Hey

I would like to copy / paste a whole row to shopify from an excel for example, but it seems to be impossible even manually?

I want for example 45 SKUs and just paste them right into the bulk edit, but it always paste the whole row no matter what, if i “drag down” the blue area in bulk edit it just replicates the same SKU as before.

I want this to be easy, not manually working with sku 1 by 1 to make sure it gets right.

Hi Roar_Sweden,
You cannot paste value in bulk editor, instead you need to export all products in a csv and do the changes in that csv using excel in your case and then either delete all products or while importing the changed csv overwrite the existing ones

Keep everything backed up doing this
In excel keep a check on the format of csv

Yes, im very aware of this export import experience, i just wanted to have
an easy solution with manually doing the paste in editor, which should be
easy enough to solve.

I manually fix around 5-10 products each week with around 45 SKU in every
product. It would be so easy if i just pasted it right into the system
since everything is in order from excel → shopify.

Is it possible to just do the changes for specific items in CSV, where do i
see that?
I work with CSV daily so i know what i need to do, just not in shopify.

Tomas

I don’t think apart there is a method in shopify bulk editor other than manually, Or else some paid apps are there.
Just run a filter in csv and import certain products.
