It would be great to be able to add tags to collection and to be able to filter collections based on those tags in our admin.
That way we could easily have access to a list of specific collections through our massive list of collections.
Yeah this would help a lot once you cross 50 or 60 collections. Workaround I’ve been using is prefixing collection handles with codes like aw25 for seasonal or vip for B2B, then filter by handle search in admin. Not perfect but it sticks since handles are stable. Are you doing it more for admin organisation or for storefront filtering on a mega-menu? Different solutions depending on which. Worth posting on community.shopify.dev too, product team tracks feature requests there more actively.

Great suggestion! Adding tag support for collections and enabling tag-based filtering in the Shopify admin would be incredibly helpful.
It would definitely save a lot of time when managing a large number of collections, letting us quickly find and access specific collections instantly. Fully support this feature request!

While Shopify doesn’t currently have a native tagging system for collections in the admin, there are a couple of workarounds you might find helpful: you could use the collection description or title prefix system to create your own organizational scheme, or explore third-party apps from the Shopify App Store that offer enhanced collection management and filtering features. I’d also recommend checking if this has been suggested on the Shopify Ideas forum – if not, submitting it there could help get this feature on the roadmap since it sounds like a pain point for other merchants too!
