Adding a 2nd Featured Products Collection To Homepage (Minimal Theme)

Hi,

Have managed to get by without asking here before but this has me stumped.

I’m trying to add a second featured products collection to the homepage. I can add a 2nd ‘featured products’ section through Theme Settings - Home Page - Section Order, but it’s just showing the same collection twice. When I go to Theme Setting - Home Page-featured products there’s still just one option for one collection.

Ideally what I’m looking to do is have Section1 - Featured Products from Collection A and beneath it Section 2 - Featured Products from Collection B. I’m happy to poke around in the theme’s code but I realy don’t know where to look.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hey, @FBRecords !

Ash here from the Shopify team. Welcome to the Shopify Community!

I understand you’re trying to add two different featured collections on the homepage of your Minimal theme. It sounds like you’ve already succeeded in creating a second featured collection section, but it’s currently displaying the same collection as the initial section you made. Here are some instructions on how to add a featured collection section to the homepage of the Minimal theme, and how to change the collection associated with each section. I’ll include steps from the beginning to the end of the process for the sake of all users checking out this post, but for your specific case, you can start on step number 6.

  1. Head over to the Online Store> Themes section of the admin

  2. Find the theme you want to work on and click “Customize”

  3. On the left side of the theme customizer, click “Add Section” to add a new section to the homepage

  4. The Minimal theme has a section called “Featured Collection”. Click on that, and then click “Select” to add it to your home page

  5. Once you have your desired sections added, they’ll appear on the homepage sidebar in your theme customizer

  6. Click on a section from the homepage sidebar to edit its settings, and change the associated collection

  7. You can also click and drag sections to re-arrange your homepage using this icon

  8. Once you’re done making changes to your theme, remember to save the page

Let me know how these steps work out for you by replying here, and I’ll be happy to assist if there appear to be any steps not working as expected. Happy customizing!

Thanks for your reply Ash,

We’re actually still using an older non-sectioned version of Minimal so I don’t have the option of adding a section. Will have to look at migrating over to a sectioned version I suppose.

Thanks again,

Sean

Hi there,

I actually have the same problem and I have done the exact steps in this solution post. Unfortunately, when you do a second featured collection and change the second one to the collection you’d like the second one to… it automatically changes the first selection too. I am using the Dawn theme. It seems as though everytime you change the collection you want to feature, it updates it for all featured collection in any of the pages.
