Hello, I was wondering what is the easiest way for going about adding an automatic discount on orders from the US only. Shopify only allows manual codes for free shipping discounts, even though you can filter it by customer location. However I am not sure if there is an app that can satisfy the free shipping with selected countries, any help would be greatly appreciated!

You can achieve this with the PH MultiCarrier shipping Label app. The app allows you to set shipping zones and conditions like free shipping, and carrier-calculated or flat rates.
You can also set price/weight/category-based conditions, print shipping labels, schedule pickups & track your orders. The app has a 14-day free trial, so you can see if this works for you.

Instead of offering free shipping to your US customers by setting up a discount, have you considered setting up a free shipping rate in your shipping profile? You can create a shipping zone with only the US in it and add the free shipping rate under that zone so that when US customers get to your checkout, they’re offered free shipping. You can find the steps for that entire process below.
- From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Shipping and delivery.
- Next to the shipping profile where you want to add a shipping zone, click Manage.
- Under the group of shipping from locations where you want to add a shipping zone, click Create shipping zone.
- Enter a name for the shipping zone.
- Select the countries and regions that you want to be in the zone.
- Click Done.
- For each shipping zone, add the free shipping rate:
- Click Add rate.
- Enter the name for the rate.
- Make sure that the value of the Price field is
0. - Optional: Click Add conditions and set weight or price conditions.
- Click Done.
- Click Save.
After you set up free shipping, make sure you communicate this to your US customers so they can take advantage of the offer. You can post it on your social media profiles, add it to your shipping policy, and even share it through a newsletter.
Problem with that is if you have another discount that you don’t want to apply free shipping to as well. I have this problem currently. I want to offer a case sale with a discount code, but NOT offer free shipping as well. If I do the discount and anyone orders over $150…they get the “automatic discount” because I’ve set up a free shipping method based on price.
This is such a crock of crap. Please fix!
