Hi, new seller here trying to set up my store. Is there a way to add customer-selectable options to my product template WITHOUT using variants? Maybe an app or metafield/metaobject?
I make small-batch handcrafted pendants, and would like to let customers choose between several necklace chain lengths… but it looks like if I use variants for this I’d need to have separate inventory for each selection. This would artificially limit customer choices when I have fewer pendants than I do chain options. And I’d rather not list the chains only separately unless I have to.
I tried searching here and on youtube, but everything I found was either tutorials about variants, or how to use metafields/metaobjects to do things that aren’t what I want. I tried messing with metafields and metaobjects on my own, but can’t figure out how to get them configured for this.
Ideally I’d like it to appear right above the “add to cart” button.
Oh, and for my shop theme I’m using the latest (as of this post) Dawn version, 15.0.
We have an app that can connect inventory for different variants. If you choose to create a different variant for each chain length then you can use our app to connect the inventory for all variants.
The app is called Fusion Inventory. Here’s a user guide explaining how it works.
Feel free to reach out over email if you have any questions or feedback.
Hi,
At main-product.liquid file (or product-template.liquid in older versions).
Need to add line item properties at produt form just above the add to cart and style with css
Code example for line item properties
You can also use app like Infinite Options by ShopPad Inc.
Hi @AllisonT ,
The Easify Product Options app can help you solve your problems quickly, and the setup is simple with no coding required
.
Here’s how it works:
- Create the Pendant and Chain products separately to manage their inventories independently.
- Use the app to create Chain options (linked with the Chain products) for the Pendant products.
- If you don’t want to sell the Chain separately, there are simple settings to hide chain products from the storefront.
If you’re willing to try the app, reach out to the Easify team, and they will help you set it up quickly. I hope you give the app a try!
