Solved. I went to the Popular free themes section and clicked “Add” Dawn. It only took a few minutes. It installed, then the original “update” notification disappeared, never to be seen again. The new installed Dawn 14.0 theme did carry over a lot of my store content from Dawn 10.0. Still going through it to compare what is missing, but at least I don’t have to start from scratch.
