Hello Shopify Community,
I am seeking assistance with a technical issue regarding linking my main products to external sites. My Shopify store is primarily used for coaching, but I also have products—a line of shoes and a music single—that are hosted and sold on separate e-commerce platforms (AliveShoes and UnitedMasters, respectively).
The Problem:
*I need to create a clear way for visitors on my Shopify store to click through directly to these external product sites.
-
I attempted to add the external URLs into my theme (Dawn theme) through the product description and customization sections, but the links were not approved or properly integrated by the system.
-
My Support Advisor suggested that this requires complex theme coding to properly embed the external URLs so they function correctly.
My Goal:
I am looking for a free code snippet or step-by-step guidance that will allow me to securely and permanently integrate the following external links into my Shopify store (ideally on my product pages or homepage blocks) without hiring a paid expert:
-
Shoes Link: www.aliveshoes.com/mbsb-bnjtv
-
Music Link: unitedmasters.com/a/kurt-ogbewele
Any help or direction on how to implement this coding would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
@user3640 Why are the external links not been approved?
Hi @user3640
I’m @PaulNewton shopify-partner with a range of merchant services.
That doesn’t make any sense there should be no approval process for editing a product description.
So your probably omitting critical detail to properly communicate the technical details.
So there’s no magic “snippet” to fix something that doesn’t even have a proper description of the problem.
So someone’s gonna have to spend their time on you to diagnose and then fix the problem for your personal business profit.
If you have a realistic budget for dealing with themes for your business value then you can reach out to me for theme repair or customization services to take care of it properly.

ALWAYS include context in new communications, e.g. reference urls, posts urls, etc
Budget is extremely low right now, will reach out when things pick up. Thanks
This does not require any coding.
Any section which has a “button” block/setting or similar will accept any link.
Say, “multicolumn” in Down will be a good match here.
I’d say you’re trying to add those links in a wrong way, that’s why it looks like “not approved”
Explain how you do this.
The Spotify support person is the one who tried to add the links and communicated that they could not add the URL, as it would require complex coding with the theme to integrate the links.
This is shopify not spotify, spotify support is over there: https://support.spotify.com/
Sorry Paul I meant to say Shopify. Thank you
Hi @user3640 , You just want to add links to the product page? Please give more details regarding what you actually want with a clear image. Thanks.
I tried to add my links to the product page, and it seems like it will not accept them because it has set links in there. As a whole, I want to put my links on my Shopify home page so customers can easily buy my products.
Again, have you tried “Multicolumn” section?
The way I input the links before was through the theme code. I lack the confidence to do it again, so I would appreciate any help.
Hi @user3640
There is a simple solution for this problem.
List that product in Shopify. On the detail page, in the buy now button, you can add the link in the button meta.
Whenever someone clicks on the button, they will be redirected to your linked website.
Let me know if it helps.
Thanks & Regards,
