Due to the nature of the product, I’d need to implement a few additional complexities that aren’t present in regular quantity based products and just wanted to ask to see if this is possible within Shopify, and what methods I could use.
Each product will have various dropdowns, like material, which will change the price of the product per square unit. Each product has fields for length and height, which the user can separately enter. This will calculate the total unit squared for the product and assign the price accordingly. After that, there will be a checkbox for whether the user needs to book an installation appointment. If this is checked, there will be a calendar to pick any free days for the booking. Now, an additional charge will be added to the product for the installation, which is also calculated per square unit.
Can this be done on the Shopify Basic plan using existing apps (like Custom Price Calculator or MS Size Price Calculator)? Or would I need Advanced/Plus for checkout-level pricing logic?
Yes, with the correct app configuration, it is definitely doable on the Basic Shopify plan. For the logic involving price per square unit, Custom Price Calculator or MS Size Price Calculator would handle the dimensions input and adjust the price automatically. Installation bookings could integrate a scheduling app that adds an extra charge based on the total square units.
You would not need Shopify Plus unless you were going for very advanced checkout customization, most of what you described could be handled by an app. Then, once the site is active, I would suggest pairing it with affiliate tools such as UpPromote, which work great for targeted services/products like this and help in getting targeted traffic without spending a lot on ads.

It even has a date picker which makes the booking installation integration easier at least in terms of price calculation. All the comments been super helpful but this one I got setup the fastest and it being free definitely takes the cake.
