It takes several seconds to over a minute for anything I do on the admin page or sidekick to respond. I’ve been currently waiting for sidekick to finish a report for over 10 minutes and it took about 2 minutes yesterday for the same report.
Hey @Central_Hobbies
For the admin slowness, first thing to rule out is your end: try a different browser or incognito mode to kill any extension conflicts, and check status.shopify.com to see if there’s an active incident.
If the admin is slow everywhere and not just Sidekick, clearing cache and disabling browser extensions usually fixes it. If it persists across browsers and devices, that’s worth a support ticket with a screen recording, generic “admin is slow” reports rarely get traction without proof.
Hope that helps! If it did, a Like and Marking it as Solution goes a long way and helps others find the fix faster too.
Best,
Moeed
I’ve tried different browsers with pretty much equal results, even removed browser and did a fresh install. I have even tried 3 different computers in the store all about as slow. Currently using Firefox but have tried Edge and fresh install of Brave with the same results. Internet provider was in a few days ago and updated the equipment with no improvement. Other websites are very quick it just seems the Shopify admin is slow, possibly requires more computer resources to do what should be much quicker.
Since you’ve already tested multiple browsers and even different PCs, it does sound less like a local device issue and more like either an app/theme process conflict or a Shopify-side admin delay.
One thing worth checking is whether there are any heavy apps running background syncs, reports, or inventory updates, as those can sometimes slow the admin significantly. I’ve seen apps like review tools, product sync apps, and analytics trackers cause this kind of lag before.
If everything else on your network is fast, it may be worth reviewing the installed apps and theme customizations to isolate what’s putting extra load on the admin.
Analytics reports (especially bigger ones) can take time depending on how much data is being pulled and the date range. That’s pretty normal.
Sometimes the admin can also feel slow due to browser issues, network problems, or occasional load on Shopify’s side.
A few quick things you can try:
- Do a hard refresh (Ctrl + Shift + R / Cmd + Shift + R)
- Try opening the store in a different browser or in incognito mode
- Check your internet connection with a quick speed test
- You can also check Shopify Status to see if there’s any ongoing issue
For the report:
- If it’s been more than 10 minutes, it’s better to cancel and try again
- Try reducing the date range or filters to make it load faster
Thanks
Hi, I’m Vineet, from Identixweb, a Shopify Development Agency.
Yeah, that’s not normal. A few seconds of delay can happen sometimes, but waiting 10+ minutes for sidekick or over a minute for basic Admin actions points to either a browser/network issue or a shopify-side performance issue.
First, check Shopify Status here: https://shopstatus.shopifyapps.com/
Shopify’s status page currently shows “All Systems Operational,” but it also says some issues affecting a small percentage of stores may not appear there.
I’d test this quickly in this order:
-
Open Shopify Admin in Incognito/private mode
-
Disable browser extensions, especially ad blockers or security extensions
-
Try another browser like Chrome/Firefox/Safari
-
Test from another device or mobile data
-
Check if it happens only with Sidekick or the entire Admin
Update here if the issue still persists.
Pretty much have tried all the above (see previous posts) with no results. I guess we will just have to live with it.
Hello @Central_Hobbies
From what I have seen this usually indicates session or store data load strain and not due to the tool itself. Try using in incognito window or other chrome profile and disable all the extensions especially the ad blocker. If Sidekick runs slow on reports, limit to a smaller dataset or range in time, and export CSV for further analysis. And check if you have any heavy apps running in background. In most cases clearing cache and switching network solves the lag. Refreshing the admin session and limiting concurrent tabs can also help with responsiveness.
It is definitely Shopify. I have the same issue. TH eonly think I do is start a new conversation. But I am surprised there are not more people saying the same thing. Either one they do not know how great sidekick is or they may think it is normal. But for me I use Sidekick a good bit and it tends to get very slow after a few lines of conversatoin. And it is not on our end. It is definatly Shopify side of things.
I am having the same slow loading when updating an item with sidekick then i goto save and it never stops unless i do a hard refresh, i have refreshed firefox browser several times and start new sidekick conversations and delete the old ones , i have tried all the other suggestions also in the thread above
I have tried several browsers in an attempt to get anything done faster anywhere on Shopify. The best luck I have had is with the Brave bowser.
I think the people at Shopify feel everyone should be using a high end Gamer style computer with tons of RAM and high speed processors but don’t realize many of us are still using older computers or budget price computers and don’t replace them every 2 or 3 years.
I’m having the same issues, i takes forever for it to work or have to do a hard refresh, Ive just migrated my old site to shopify and trying to tidy things up. Things that should take a minute are taking forever. My laptop is pretty new with high specs for doing cad design so its not that.
I have tried different browsers, emptying the cashe, rebooting (makes it better for a while) and all their developer’s “fixes” and have come to the conclusion that Shopify has outgrown the bandwidth and speed of their internet connection to their servers. They don’t seem to want to take responsibility for it but pass it off as a problem at the user end.
At this point I’d stop testing browsers and start collecting evidence Shopify support can’t hand-wave away.
Open DevTools → Network while reproducing one slow admin action, save the HAR, and note whether the delay is on Shopify API calls, app/admin-extension calls, or Sidekick’s own request. Also test with all admin extension/app panels closed and a tiny report date range.
If multiple machines/networks show the same slow Shopify requests, that HAR + timestamps is the fastest way to get it escalated beyond generic cache advice.
