Hello everyone,
We are creating custom integrations and need to store the IDs from external systems in Shopify Orders and Customers. Using admin filterable metafields would be a natural fit for that task, but for some reason we cannot create them - neither for orders, nor for customers.
On the other hand, the admin filterable metafields are working for Products - this is something we researched and verified.
So, what are our options here?
Could we expect that the admin filterable metafields would be implemented for Orders and Customers anytime soon?
Or maybe we can create some simple key-value storage in Shopify? If yes, what are the limitations?
Keeping the external IDs in some external database is not an option, as we try to store all Shopify-related data in Shopify.
