Hello - Our Admin is running very slow. Pages take a long time to populate and text appears up to 10 seconds after pushing the keys. It makes it very difficult to work with any efficiency.
I am using a Mac Book and Chrome. We have around 10 apps but nothing has been added between the Admin running normally and it slowing down considerably.
We have tried:
Clearing the cache
Using another browser
Using incognito mode.
Removing Extensions
Tried it on our Windows laptop and it runs slowly but not quite as badly as on the Mac Book.
Spoke to Shopify yesterday and they didn’t have much of an answer apart from doing a ‘re-indexing’ which hasn’t made any difference so far, althought they did say to wait 48 hours.
Has anyone else experience anything like this and managed to recitfy? Shopify say if the ‘re-indexing’ doesn’t work then it is a problem with my mac book (even thought it has worked at lightning speed with the same problems previously and we have a simillar issue on another laptop) and they will not be able to help me further.
I cannot justify purchasing a new laptop in the hope that it runs the most crucial software to our business in a usable way.
Can anyone else help with this? Or have any ideas I can try. Thanks in advance.
Temporarily disable app embeds and pause apps one by one
Check if specific sections (Orders, Products) are slower than others
Log in with a staff account to rule out account-level issues
If re-indexing doesn’t help after 48 hours, push Shopify Support to check for Admin-side performance or app-related issues — the symptoms you’re seeing usually aren’t caused by the laptop itself. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the tips. What would you say is a lot of products? We currently have about 4000+ but some of these are legacy and could probably be removed. The Mac Book does run considerably worse than the PC - Also how do I reduce rows in orders? Not sure what is meant here - I shouldn’t be deleting records of old sales even if I could but maybe I have misinterpreted?
I’ve also been noticing this in the last several days. I’m in multiple Shopify sites frequently editing customer websites and they’re all having this issue.
Thanks for getting back to me Amit - We had a lot of products in our inventory and I have removed a few hundred - this seems to have speeded things up a bit. I also updated the OS on my MacBook which seems to have cleared up a few problems with this and another website.
