Hi,
I have just discovered that there is no way opt out of my products/data being used in ChatGPT (and other AI programs) without un-listing my products/site–therefore making it unusable for sales.
As an artist, I feel betrayed by the Shopify developers who have not included a way to avoid using these AI features. Programs like these create generative images based on data sets of human creatives’ work which are collected without consent or remuneration.
Surely I cannot be the only one disappointed by this? Because now it feels to me that by lisitng products on Shopify, the images may be used to generate images by others on these programs or to use my data without my permission.
I’m hoping that enough people interact with this post and something gets done about this.

There is no opt out mechanisms, opt-in is assumed by these ghouls.
As external actors shopify can’t even stop them by just giving you a switch that says pwettypleasedontsteal.

It’s dumb and it sucks but it’s the future without mass action and legal consequences for these platfroms.
So take action , join actions, or just buckle up.
There is a caveat on all this or any hypothetical “opt out feature” such a thing would NEVER stop things like web crawling & indexing , or product feeds with other platforms.
It’s rotten to the root.
Minimum block the crawlers in your robots.txt, file DMCA"s, etc all the other beuractractic burdens
It’s enshiddification level 3.2~3.3
It’s not going to change these companies DO NOT care about your IP rights.
The default is to fraudulently opt merchants into copy right theft mechanisms.
They’ll hide behind two faced terms like “product discovery channel” and play a game of finger pointing at each other then act like you shouldn’t be surprise.

When it’s clearly not like search engine using fair use where they merely reference and point to a merchants site not take the entirety of human content for the purposes of making stolen inhuman content.

There’s also including mature content in products to become “ineligible” for inclusion in things like the shopify catalog.
