AI-Tools for product Copywriting Work?

Topic summary

The discussion examines AI-powered copywriting tools marketed for creating product descriptions in e-commerce contexts.

Current Limitations:

  • AI tools in late 2022 are not yet comparable to professional human copywriters
  • They lack independent decision-making, imagination, and the ability to make creative choices
  • Cannot be fully trusted to complete copywriting tasks autonomously

Recommended Workflow:
A structured 4-step approach is suggested:

  1. Generate initial content using AI
  2. Curate the output
  3. Extract useful ideas
  4. Write your own final version

This follows a “modeling, hacking, and spying” methodology—observing what successful sellers do and reverse-engineering their approach.

Practical Use Cases:

  • AI tools can accelerate work by handling the initial 20/80 effort
  • Useful for finding information and synonyms
  • Best employed as assistive tools rather than replacements

Future Outlook:
While AI may eventually become more capable, participants agree it will take considerable time before these tools can independently produce high-quality, converting copy without human oversight and refinement.

Hey!! It has been some days that I’m seeing on the web, a lot of tools that promote “automatic-AI-generated writing for better and more converting product description”.

Well, the idea is good! But…

Right now, in November of 2022, AI tools are not so even close to a professional copywriter (human).

My opinion and experience are: you can accelerate your job, by doing the 20/80.

But you can’t trust it 100% to make the job as a copywriter.

The Safety and recommended way to use it is:

  1. Generate it
  2. Curate it
  3. Get the idea
  4. Write your own.

BUT! The actual better workflow until now (in my opinion) is the classic MODELLING, HACKING, and SPYING.
-When you see what the best players/sellers are doing, you reverse it for creating yours.

What do you think about it?

AI tools are developing fast, but you’re right; they are not even close to an average human copywriter. The thing with AI tools is that they can do what you tell them, but they cannot make a choice of their own and don’t have imagination. They can be used as helpful tools to find the necessary information or synonyms. However, they are still far away from being independent writers.
I’m not saying, though, that an AI cannot become a writer in the future. It will take a long time, but I think it will be possible someday. But for now, lazy college students still have to pay humans from reddit essay writing services to get their essays written beautifully.
