How do you stay updated with changes in algorithms and trends in organic marketing and how to stay “on top” once you get there ?
Topic summary
The discussion centers on maintaining visibility amid evolving social media algorithms and organic marketing trends.
Initial Question:
How to stay current with algorithm changes and sustain top rankings in organic marketing.
Recommended Approach:
For small businesses, avoid obsessing over algorithm mechanics—no guaranteed viral formula exists. Instead, focus on proven fundamentals:
- Consistency: Post 2-3 times weekly minimum (more if resources allow), though full-time creators may produce 2-3 pieces daily
- Engagement-driven content: Prioritize shareable, rewatchable material over sales pitches—social platforms reward genuine interaction, not product photos
The emphasis is on sustainable practices rather than chasing algorithmic shortcuts.

As a small business I don’t recommend trying to focus on social media algorithms at all.
There’s no magic button to make your content go viral.
I’d focus on what we know platforms care about:
- Posting consistently. Based on your time budget you need to ensure that you post content 2-3 times per week. More if you can afford it. Content creators can create 2 - 3 pieces of content a day. You aren’t in competition with creators, but you do need a regular schedule.
- Making content that people will engage with. Your content can’t be focused on sales. It’s SOCIAL before the media. Make content that people want to watch again, share and like. You won’t be able to do that with a photo of your product.
