None of our collection pages are displaying correctly.
The pages come up ok and then there URL rewrites to one with “?view=backup-ci” added to the end and a error message is displayed:
“Liquid error: Error in tag ‘section’ - ‘collection-template-backup-ci’ is not a valid section type”
I have searched these forums & this sort of error seems to usually be related to someone inadvertently deleting a file in the liquid code. I am trying to confirm (its outside office hours here) this, but I am pretty sure nobody has edited our theme code this afternoon…
Updating this: seems the issue is related to an attempt to trial a filtering app. We are working with the app’s team to rectify the issue. But I would be interested in any insight people had to offer on the issue & where we would find the code that is causing the URLs to rewrite.
I can pretty confidently say that everything about this issue is caused by the app you’ve installed. It’s pretty common for them to make a backup of the theme files they edit before injecting code, so this may be some functionality on the app’s part where if something fails on its template, it redirects the customer to the backup it made. Best people to fix this is the app developer, although you may be able to get support from Shopify to roll back your theme to before its installation.
