Allow Grow plan stores to use Shopify Checkout Blocks app,

Feedback to Shopify:

I run a small Danish online store on the Grow plan and I would like to share feedback about a limitation that negatively impacts growth for smaller stores.

In Denmark, approximately 80% of my customers pay via MobilePay on my other store i have been running for 7 years. (this store is located on a different platform not shopify) MobilePay is a well-known local payment method that is very easy for customers to use.

On Shopify, I am unable to place MobilePay at the top of the checkout payment method order without upgrading to Shopify Plus — which is a disproportionately large cost for a small business.

I am genuinely positive about Shopify Payments, as it consolidates all payment solutions in one place. On my other store/platform I am a customer at 3 different payment providers, so the simplicity of Shopify Payments is appealing.

However, the ability to customize the order of payment methods at checkout (via Checkout Blocks or similar) should be available on the Grow plan and other non-Plus plans, so that smaller stores can grow faster and achieve success more quickly. Almost no one bothers to enter their card information these days.

Today, the customers must scroll past Card Information, before they see the other payment options, which take up a lot of space and almost no one uses card payments onlye 20-30 % in my case.

My request: Please allow Grow plan stores to use Shopify Checkout Blocks app, to reorder payment methods at checkout.

This is very important for Smaller Scandinavian markets with dominant local payment methods like MobilePay in Denmark, where the order of payment options directly impacts conversion rates.

I also think it is of great interest to Shopify since Shopify profits from fees through Shopify payments. Shopify may lose revenue on the smaller store accounts, because smaller stores will have to be a directly customer of other payment providers.

I am personally very happy with Shopify payments In relation to the size of my store. Since I am a customer in one place (Shopify payments).

Unfortunately I will have to find another payment solution if Shopify will not allow Growplan to edit in checkout via the app.

I also think it is in Shopify’s interest to keep your fee earnings on Shopify payments so I hope you will take my feedback seriously.

I also want to eventually move my other larger online store to Shopify. But the problem with the checkout page is currently holding me back.

I have sent this message via your support as well.

Have a good day : ) Best Regards MissL

Hi @MissL

I’m Vineet from Identixweb, a Shopify Development Agency.

I completely understand your point here. In markets like Denmark, the payment method order directly affects conversion, especially when customers strongly prefer MobilePay over card payments.

At the moment, this limitation is real because payment method reordering through Checkout Blocks is only available on Shopify Plus. For a small store on the Grow plan, upgrading only to move MobilePay higher in checkout is obviously not realistic.

As a workaround, you can make MobilePay very visible before checkout, like maybe on the product page, cart drawer/cart page, footer, and payment icons, but that still does not solve the actual checkout ordering issue I guess.

No, maybe giving access to the entire app is not the solution.

It’s just such a simple setup that other shop systems have as a fixed part of their shop system backend, so it comes as a big surprise that Shopify doesn’t have it as a fixed part of their backend on the Grow plan.
