Hello! We’re looking for an app that allows users to create bundles that can be customized with multiple mix-and-match products. Let’s say, for example, we are selling t-shirts. Every single t-shirt can be a mix-and-match product by itself, with three variant options: size, color, and material. Then, we want to create 3-packs, 4-packs, etc. with t-shirts that can be selected by the customer. Each one of these t-shirts that compose the bundle can have different sizes, colors, and materials.
Is there any app in Shopify that can replicate this behavior? Or should this be done by applying cart discounts?
For creating customizable bundles with mix-and-match options like t-shirts with different sizes, colors, and materials, apps like Bundle Builder or PickyStory could be what you’re looking for. These apps allow customers to build personalized bundles with specific product variants. You can create 3-packs, 4-packs, and more, where customers can select different options for each item in the bundle. Alternatively, cart discounts can be applied, but an app would make the process smoother and more user-friendly.
@al3xisrodriguez , when the types of variants you can have increases in complexity, it might be just easier to apply discounts instead of managing bundles. Especially since the native bundling app has a lot of limitations.
If you want to go the discount route, I suggest you try our app, Discount Bot. Here’s an example of how to set up a mult-tier discount (for 3pk vs. 4pk. etc.) to handle your scenario:
On the admin side, you can define the discount using the tiers you want:
In the above example, I’ve selected the “Limit discount to whole sets” checkbox so that any excess item in the cart doesn’t get a discount. If you would like to give all qualifying items the “best” tier discount, then you can leave that unchecked.
On the cart, here’s how discounts are applied depending on the number of items:
Hi Al3x - try Bundler - Product Bundles (also mentioned below) or Bold Bundles. Applying cart discounts is an option, but it won’t give the same flexibility to choose variants within bundles. Using a dedicated bundling app is your best bet.
In case you’re still looking for a bundle app solution,Simple Bundles is great for creating customizable mix-and-match bundles just like the one you described. With our app, you can allow customers to build their own 3-pack, 4-pack, etc., selecting individual t-shirts with different sizes, colors, and materials for each item in the bundle.
Mix-and-Match Variants: Customers can choose different product variants within the bundle. Bundle as a Single Product: The bundle is treated as a product while still tracking individual inventory. Automatic Inventory Sync: Each selected t-shirt will be deducted from its original stock, ensuring accurate inventory management. Seamless Checkout Experience: The bundle breaks down into individual items at checkout, so fulfillment remains simple.
Since Simple Bundles manages bundles as actual products, you wouldn’t need to rely on cart discounts. Instead, you can set up the bundle pricing however you’d like while ensuring a smooth shopping experience for your customers. You can reach out to (hello@simplebundles.io) if you need more help!
What you’re describing — letting customers build bundles of t-shirts where each one can have its own size, color, and material — is exactly the kind of use case my app NeatBundles was built for.
Here’s how it works:
You create a bundle product (like “3-Pack of T-Shirts”).
On the bundle page, customers go step by step to mix & match individual products. Each t-shirt can be chosen with its own variants (size, color, material).
All the selected items are then added to the cart as individual line items, so inventory stays in sync.
You can also add discounts to the bundle if you want to incentivize larger packs (3-pack, 4-pack, etc.).
On top of that, NeatBundles supports custom fields you can add to any bundle flow — number, text, long text, image upload, and multiple choice. This is handy if you ever want to collect extra info from customers (e.g., “Add a name for personalization” or “Upload a reference image”).
So instead of trying to hack this together with cart discounts, you’d have a clean bundle product page where customers can customize everything themselves.
Right now, NeatBundles is free for a limited time, and if you sign up soon, you’ll keep it free forever.
I suggest using the Mix-and-Match bundle feature on the BiDeal Bundle Volume Discounts app. This feature allows customers to build their bundle from a list of products that you pre-select and bundle right on your product page.
You can set up each tier of discount as you want, as shown below. If a customer buys 4 products will be a discount of 30%, …
You can try Easify Box Builder — it’s perfect for creating mix-and-match bundles like the one you described. With this app, you can let customers build their own packs (3-pack, 4-pack, etc.) and select different variants such as size, color, and material for each item in the box.
First, you’ll need to set the box name, box type, and optionally choose a template.
Here, I’m using the Predefined Box Sizes, which lets you set a fixed quantity with a fixed price — for example, a pack of 3 for $380 or a pack of 4 for $380.
If you haven’t found the right answer yet, I’d like to help you with another solution.
You can do this using a third-party app that supports true mix-and-match bundles with variant selection (size, color, material, etc.). One option you can consider is BOGOS: Free Gift Bundle Upsell.
With the mix and match feature in that app:
Shoppers can combine different products into a bundle.
Each product inside the bundle can be a different variant (size, color, material).
