Hello @thomaswebdesign ,

Greetings from flareAI app! I am Gina, and I am here to help.

“Alternate page with proper canonical tag” in Google Search Console means that there are multiple versions of a particular page on your Shopify store, but you have designated one version as the primary version using a canonical tag.

For example, let’s say you have a product page that can be accessed using two different URLs - one with “http” and the other with “https”. You can use a canonical tag to tell search engines that the “https” version is the primary version you want to be indexed, and the “http” version is an alternate version.

By doing this, you can avoid duplicate content issues and ensure that search engines understand which version of the page to index. The “Alternate page with proper canonical tag” status in Google Search Console indicates that you have properly set up these canonical tags.

Having alternate pages with proper canonical tags in Google Search Console should not cause any problems for your Shopify store pages. In fact, using canonical tags can help search engines understand which version of a page you want to be indexed, which can improve your website’s overall search engine optimization. Just make sure that your canonical tags are set up correctly and consistently across your website to avoid any confusion.

Hope this helps

Gina

Hi Gina

Thank you for your reply.

I can see the canonical meta tag on above listed URLs. But they are still being flagged by google. How this can be fixed?
