In general, you don’t need any apps to be able to achieve good site speed for your visitors. Usually the issues are caused by the suboptimal theme code and it’s way more impactful to adjust it instead. I believe that APM is in the decline and doesn’t provide any real advantages anymore. That said, the PWAs are still going strong and some of the features (e.g. adding your store to the app drawer) may improve the user experience.
