The issue I’m facing is the following:
Let’s say I have a unisex product that comes in 3 colors: pink, white, black. The pink variant is my best-selling one, but the black is a close second. In my “For Women” collection, I’ll gladly show the product with the pink variant being the display image. However, in the “For Men” collection, I’d still like to sell this product, but have the black variant as the display image and exclude or at least reorder the pink variant.
Is there anything like this out there? I’m desperate to find a solution for this. Just creating duplicate products introduces all kinds of stock keeping, SEO and product management issues..

I do not believe it’s possible to show different variants (and omit others) based on the product collection.
Your best bet is making two separate products – one for “for women” and one for “for men”.
For the “for women” product, you can just do the pink and white variants, and then for the “for men” product, you can do just the black variant. This would essentially be the same, in terms of inventory tracking, as your current set up. You won’t hurt your SEO by having two separate products, as long as the product names are slightly different.
Ballpark - how many products are you wanting to do this for and how many collections?
Hi @Cashimir ,
Here are a couple of suggestions you could try:
- For the Women’s collection, create a product with variants in Pink, Black, and White. Set Pink as the display image.
- In the Men’s collection, create a separate product with variants in Black and White. Use Black as the display image.
Since both products share Black and White variants, you might want to consider using an inventory sync app to ensure that the inventory levels of these variants are synchronized between the Women’s and Men’s collections.
