The Shopify phone app changed a week plus ago and I find it very frustrating.
One - it gamifies the sales total for the day and makes you watch it spin around like it’s entertainment. Personally, it’s stressful enough running a business and making everything work. My sales for the day are my bread and butter and I don’t need the app to add a layer of uncertainty to it. Don’t make it a game. Putting food on the table isn’t a game and I really don’t like it. Just show the total.
Two - it only shows today’s sales and I can’t choose to look at the sales for yesterday or the week or the month. I asked the Ai agent where I could find yesterday’s sales and it told me, “Just ask me!” No, no, no. I do not want to ask the Ai agent for something that should be a dropdown away. It’s just ridiculous. Maybe there is a way to navigate to those other sales figures, but I haven’t found it yet.
Alas, none of this is really surprising. Given how Shopify developers have stripped almost all at-a-glance info from the admin page, rendering it less and less useful with every update, it seems that they’re designing things for anyone BUT the shop owners. The admin page is orders of magnitude worse than it was 3+ years ago and now the phone app is headed down the drain as well. It is just so frustrating to be on this platform for 13-14 years, sending thousands upon thousands of dollars Shopify’s way and to never once feel like my needs are a priority. So frustrating.
Unfortunately, there’s currently no setting to disable that animation or switch back to a plain number display, so your frustration is completely understandable.
