Hi, I am currently on a journey to open up my first online store and I will be selling grocery products. Is there someone out there who would kindly share a template of their product samples with descriptions which they have uploaded previously onto their Shopify just so I can see what kind of parameters I’ll need to be looking at.
Hey, @Rum94 . Welcome to the Community, and congratulations on opening your first online store! That’s very exciting.
Since it sounds like you are planning on using CSV’s to manage your store, I recommend taking a look at the Help Docs for Using CSV files. It has all the info you should need in order to import and export products. The description of the CSV file format, and which columns are required to contain data are outlined here. You can also download a sample product CSV file to take a look at and work off of.
You no doubt have suppliers for your goods, most of these will have EPOS data in the form of CSV or XLS files which they will be happy (most) to share with you, then it’s simply a matter of copy and paste their products into the Shopify format.
You should set up your collections with the automatic setting, then to assign products to a collection all you have to do is assign a tag eg: sauces, so that every product with the sauces tag will go into that collection.
In the tags column in your CSV it’s then simply a matter of entering the “Sauces” tag for the relevant products.
You will find that you need a separate CSV file for your product information, and another for the inventory, but here’s the perplexing part, the product file includes a column for quantity !
If you move onto the Shopify EPOS system and use Stocky, the amount of CSV files you can use is mind-numbing, why it can’t all be integrated into one sheet baffles me !
