Hi Shopify team, I’ve connected a custom apex domain to a newly-transferred client store but the SSL/TLS certificate is stuck pending despite DNS being correctly configured and verified. Customers typing the apex URL are seeingNET::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID warnings, which is damaging trust on a just-launched store. Could someone manually trigger the cert provisioning? Details: - Store: 51cafev2.myshopify.com - Domain: 51cafe.com.au (apex) — Needs setup state - www.51cafe.com.au — Connected, SSL working (Qualys A grade) - A record: 23.227.38.65 (verified via dig from multiple locations) - AAAA record: 2620:0:5b0::1:0:0 (verified) - No CAA records - No DNSSEC - Already tried: disconnect + 15-min wait + reconnect — no change - Domain registrar (GoDaddy) confirmed all records present and verified - GoDaddy supervisor acknowledged occasional Shopify auto-provisioning failures The www subdomain provisioned its cert without issue. Only the apex is stuck. The DNS propagation indicator on the apex domain page also shows incomplete even though DNS is verifiably correct. This is a freshly launched café business (51 Cafe, Hornsby NSW Australia) and the cert warning is a real customer-facing problem. Any help nudging the provisioning manually would be hugely appreciated. Thank you, Holger
When the www provisions fine but the apex stays stuck, it is usually a Shopify-side queue issue rather than a DNS problem. At this point the fastest fix is to contact Shopify support directly and ask them to manually trigger SSL provisioning for the apex domain. They can do this on their end without you needing to touch DNS again.
Go to Settings > Domains, remove the apex domain completely, wait about 20-30 mins, then re-add it. Sometimes a clean re-add kicks the provisioning job back into the queue properly.
