App Bridge - Redirect to Discounts Error

I am attempting to perform a redirect from my embedded Shopify application to a specific user discount using App Bridge.

My redirect sends the browser to the correct URL, however the page displays the message *“*There’s a problem loading this page” and logs an error (see below). When the page is refreshed, the discount is loaded properly.

Here is my implementation:

The redirect loads the page properly if the ‘newContext: true’ property is set causing the page to open in a new tab. However this does not meet the requirements of my project, which must be opened in the tab.

Some additional notes:

  • I am redirecting from within the context of an iframe.

  • If I redirect to the main discounts page, when I open a discount manually the same error message is presented.

  • I can redirect to another admin section (ie. products) and don’t run into a similar issue.

This might mean there’s something wrong with that discount code even if the redirect is working correctly. Can you give me the discount id? Also, can you clarify which app is running into this issue?

This occurs with all discounts. I tried deleting all of my existing discounts and recreating them.

If I manually navigate to the discounts section (without redirecting) all of the discounts open normally. This problem seems to be specifically when the discounts section is navigated to via redirect. The application is called “Rozy (Tyler Local)”.

Hi Tyler, Hanna here from App Bridge following up for Trish. This is a really interesting bug, it might not be directly related to App Bridge. I was able to reproduce it even without the redirect. On the same page view (no page refresh), if at any point I open your app, the Discount Detail page will break, even if if I visit an intermediate page (Discount Listing page). I haven’t been able to reproduce this issue with another app, and it looks like this is pointing to a local environment, so it’s not stable for debugging. Could you verify my observations on your end?

Hi Hanna,

I occasionally notice the problem on my end even without the redirect but I can’t reliably reproduce that case. As I try right now, I’m able to navigate from my app to the discounts page and select a discount without any issue.

Hi Tyler, thanks for verifying on your end. After some digging around, it looks to be something that needs to be fixed internally, unrelated to App Bridge. You could keep using the REDIRECT action for now, the target page will be eventually fixed.
