App/code to add add on product in same quantity as main product

Hi, we want products to have add ons that show up as a separate product in the cart/billing. There is a ton of apps that do this by adding a second product when a checkbox etc. is selected, but all the ones we tested add the add on only once, even if there are multiple items selected. Would anyone know an app that can do this?

Expected behaviour: Customer buys 3 of main product and selects add on on product page. Clicking on add to cart adds 3 of main product and 3 of add on product to cart. Bonus points if the quantity of the add on product is always matched to the main product in cart.

Have tested tons of available apps without success, so resorting to the collective knowledge in the hopes of someone having a lead. Happy to code a bit also, if this helps. Thank you already!
