APP Translater & Adapter

store/product description

Wholesale and retail of related health products. We are starting to promote exports, but for those who are just starting in international trade, the Grow Plan is very limited when it comes to the translation app nativo.

What feedback do you want?

Currently, the Translate & Adapt app only allows 2 automatic translations on the Grow plan. For merchants who are expanding internationally, this limit is really restrictive. Increasing it to at least 5 languages would help merchants boost their international sales — and naturally upgrade to bigger plans as the business grows. More languages = more revenue = plan upgrade. Investing in a plan upgrade without having a real idea that the investment justifies the risk of increasing to 3 more translated languages, to export to Europe, for example, can become unfeasible. Implementing other apps doesn’t provide smooth integration with the Translate & Adapt app; it’s either one or the other…

One correction on the limit: the two-language cap applies only to auto-translation. You can add more languages in your market settings and translate them manually in the same Translate & Adapt editor, so a Europe test does not force a plan upgrade. Also, Translate & Adapt is compatible with third-party translation apps that use the Translations API - content created in those apps shows up in both, so it is not either/or as long as the app uses that API.

Hey @fornecedores,

There’s actually a neat workaround that a lot of merchants use to get around the auto-translate cap without upgrading or switching apps:

Go to Settings > Languages, export the CSV for the language you want to add, open it in Google Sheets, and use the built-in =GOOGLETRANSLATE() formula to fill in the blank translation fields in bulk. Then just re-import the CSV back into Shopify. It handles HTML content too, so product descriptions come through fine.

It’s not fully “automatic” in the set-and-forget sense, but for getting 3-5 European languages up and running quickly, it’s way faster than translating everything by hand - and it’s free. You can always go back and polish the machine translations for key pages later.

 Hope it helps!

Hey @fornecedores ,

I think this is a reasonable feature request, especially for merchants that are using Shopify Markets to expand into multiple countries.

The current limit of two automatic translation languages can make it difficult to test new markets without committing to additional translation workflows. For many merchants, especially those entering Europe or other multilingual regions, being able to automatically translate into a few more languages would make international expansion much more practical. Shopify’s current documentation confirms that automatic translations are limited to two languages.

I also agree with your point about integration. While third party translation apps are available, switching away from Translate & Adapt can mean managing translations in a different workflow. Keeping everything within Shopify’s native translation experience is often simpler and easier to maintain.

A good compromise could be increasing the limit to five automatic translation languages on the Grow plan, or offering additional automatic translation languages as a paid add on. That would give merchants more flexibility to validate new markets before committing to larger investments, while also creating a natural upgrade path as their international business grows.

If you found my reply helpful, please consider marking it as the accepted solution so it can help other merchants following this discussion.

Thank You !

Looks like you’ve got the translation side sorted between @clawmama’s correction and Ellie’s CSV trick.

The next piece is usually servicing those customers in their language too. Right now a French or German buyer reads a translated page, then has to ask their question into a Portuguese inbox and wait.

Carti can help with that. It’s an AI sales assistant that replies to shoppers in whatever language they write in, answering from your own product pages and policies, so someone asking about specs or lead times gets a real answer in their language. It converts more visitors, serves customers 24/7 whether your team is online or not, and shows you what each new market is actually asking about, which is worth a lot when you’re deciding where to expand next.

I’m the founder, so biased. But we have clients all over the world using it for this exact scenario. It’s 100% free for smaller stores and takes about 5 minutes to install.

Hey @fornecedores, that 2-language limit only applies to the automatic Google translation. Every plan except Lite lets you sell in up to 20 languages from one store, and manual translations are unlimited, so you can go live in Spanish, French and German this week without touching your plan. Add them under Settings > Languages, then fill the strings in Translate & Adapt’s side-by-side editor or export the translation CSV, translate it offline and re-import. I’d start with product titles, descriptions and anything near checkout instead of the whole catalogue, since a partial import is fine. Once a language is published, view source on a product page and confirm the hreflang tags are there.
