Apple Pay option hiding when using pickup points

We use pickup points for in store collection across our 7 stores. For some reason when a customer toggles to the collect in store option which uses pickup points, the apple pay option for express and regular checkout disappears even though google pay is still there?

Hey @geekstreak Apple Pay is disappearing when “Pickup in store” is selected because Shopify sometimes
disables Apple Pay in the pickup checkout flow.

Here are some solution it’s help you

  1. Check pickup settings

Go to:
Shopify Admin then Shipping & Delivery

Open Pickup in store settings
Make sure all store locations are correctly configured
2) Check Apple Pay setup

Go to:
Settings and then Payments and then in Shopify Payments

Ensure Apple Pay is enabled in the Wallets section
3) Test the issue
Try checkout with pickup turned OFF

If Apple Pay appears again the issue is confirmed
4) Best working solution

Give customers two clear options:

Ship to home then Apple Pay + Google Pay both work
In-store pickup then Google Pay or card payments

I understand that but why does it hide it and not google pay. I don’t understand

Apple Pay hides during “pickup in store” because it needs a shipping address flow, which pickup removes. Google Pay is more flexible, so it still works. This is a Shopify + Apple Pay limitation, not a store setting issue.

As a Shopify partner, Kava can disable Apple Pay if the checkout flow does not meet wallet requirements. Apple Pay depends on a valid shipping address for its authorization step, but a valid shipping address context can be neutralized or bypassed with a “pickup point” or “local pickup,” and although Google Pay may still appear, that’s dependent on the device or checkout setup.

Workaround: you can consider local pickup as a shipping method in your delivery profiles or change your local pick-up settings so a shipping address is collected in all cases, including for pick up orders. You could also consider disabling the accelerated checkout buttons for pickup usage in your cart or theme js files. Shop Pay is a good fallback express option.
