We have a loyalty program where we’d like to allow our customers to apply discount codes to EXISTING subscriptions, but for some reason, Shopify only allows coupons on subscriptions in three scenarios:
Someone’s FIRST subscription order.
2 or more subsequent orders
or to ALL future orders
So, if we want to allow redemption of loyalty points, or even in the future run a sale to our existing subscribers, the code we generate would either need to be used on 2 or more orders or to ALL their future orders… why not just one order?
Is anyone else running into this really dumb issue? Anyone find a solution?
right now we’re using recharge… I’ll take a look at the other apps (haven’t heard of them before), but I am a bit concerned about changing, as we’ve been with reCharge for so long now, so our customers are pretty accustomed to it. This issue is new, and really only poped up when we changed from their checkout, to Shopfiy’s.
You could just create a discount code in Shopify admin > Discounts and set the limit to only apply it only on the “first payment.” Then, in our Seal Subscriptions app, the customer can redeem this discount code on their existing subscription, simply by adding it to their subscription through the customer portal
There are also two other options for that:
a.) Set up a loyalty discount in the Seal Subscriptions app. This allows you to give a specific discount only on a specific renewal. But it will be applied on all subscriptions in your shop.
b.) Manually edit the subscription in our app and change the price of the product and configure it to change back to the original after the specific renewal. You can see how to do this in the screenshot below.
