Applying TikTok Affiliate Commission to Orders

Topic summary

A merchant selling on both TikTok Shop and Shopify seeks to track affiliate commissions (25% on TikTok Shop orders only) at the transaction level to calculate accurate net profit per order.

Key Challenges:

  • Need to separate TikTok Shop orders from Shopify orders
  • Want to apply commission costs specifically to TikTok transactions without affecting Shopify orders
  • Goal is transaction-level net profit visibility

Solutions Offered:

TrueProfit Response:

  • Platform data is already separated in their system
  • TikTok Shop integration currently lacks transaction-level cost editing and per-transaction profit views
  • Only store-level and product-level profit available for TikTok Shop
  • Feature is under consideration for future development

Report Pundit Alternative:

  • Can create custom reports grouping orders by sales channel
  • Supports applying 25% commission at transaction level
  • Offers automated report delivery via email or Google Drive

Status: The discussion remains open with partial solutions available through third-party tools, while native transaction-level features for TikTok Shop are not yet implemented.

I would like to know how your other clients are reporting tiktok affiliate commissions into their order reports.

Few notes:

  • We sell on both tiktok shop & our shopify site.
  • We use a connector for our tiktok shop orders.
  • We pay affiliates 25% commission on tiktok shop orders.

My questions:

  1. How can we segregate our tiktok shop orders and shopify orders?
  2. How can we apply a commission into the tiktok shop orders on the transactional level? The goal is to be able to look on the transactional level and see the net profit per transaction.

Keep in mind we don’t want to apply an expense that would get spread out throughout all transactions, as some of our transactions are from our shopify store, where an affiliate commission is not applicable.

Hi @Smash10 ,

Thank you for your interesting questions about our app. I’ll address each of your points:

  1. How can we segregate our TikTok Shop orders and Shopify orders? The data from Shopify and TikTok are completely separate in our system. With the same TrueProfit account, you can access both platforms if you have both connected, but they appear in separate views. This separation ensures you can easily distinguish between orders from each platform.
  2. How can we apply a commission into the TikTok Shop orders on the transactional level? Currently, our TikTok Shop version hasn’t allowed you to edit costs at the transactional level, and you can’t view net profit on a per-transaction basis. At this stage, you can only view net profit at the store level and product level with our TikTok Shop integration.

It’s worth noting that while our Shopify version is more full-featured, our TikTok Shop version is still in its infancy stage and is offered as a free service. We’d love to understand how viewing net profit on a transactional level would be meaningful and useful for your business, as this feedback would help us prioritize development for future updates.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or if there’s anything else I can help with!

@Smash10 , You can group TikTok orders based on sales channel in Shopify; however, adding the commission percentage requires a third-party app.
At Report Pundit, we can create a custom report and apply a 25% commission at the order transaction, allowing you to see the net profit per transaction.
You can contact our support team to create this custom report. Additionally, this report can be automated to be sent to your email ID or Google Drive.
