Hi there ![]()
I am currently setting up a comic book store for UK customers to purchase the latest issues of US comics. I am setting up an account with a distributor, though in the meantime, I have listed various other comics/comic related merchandise (from my personal collection) to boost the store’s inventory and to give a better first impression to my first customers (I haven’t been lucky with any custom yet).
So, point of my post… I did a quick search to see if I could use personal goods to start my store and the results seemed positive. So, I went on ahead and listed around 50 items. Today, I receive an email about that 18 of my items were “suspicious”, and asking confirmation that I have authorisation to resell them. This is a real message, official from Shopify, which also came up in my store notifications, that is why I am asking here for help.
The items that have been marked as “suspicious” are of a certain type but not including everything in that field. It to me seems like they’ve been targeted, as they are all issues/items that other likewise stores are selling but they’ve missed a few. It’s probably a good strategy of theirs to stomp out the competition before they have really began, isn’t it. Not that I want to annoy anyone, but obviously will somewhere down this way.
Are we not allowed to sell personal collections (of the theme of the shop) on Shopify?
Or do I have to wait for my distributor to get back to me to start listing products properly.
And what ways could I legitimately sell the private items through my business without this problem cropping up again.
Thankyou all for your time.
