Are you facing issues uploading products to Google due to GTIN?

Is anyone else having several issues with uploading products to Google? Several products are not successfully being posted and it says because I need to add a GTIN, the barcode is not the correct length, or a GTIN is required for this product even though there are GTINs for each product and they are the correct ones. Please let me know. Thank you so much in advance!

To provide some context, GTINs are unique identifiers used internationally to store and locate product information. UPC, EAN, and ISBN numbers are examples of GTINs, which might vary in length depending on the product type.

By any chance, are the products that you mentioned considered custom products? A Custom Product is defined as a product that does not have a valid GTIN or barcode, so you will need to ensure that each product has been marked a Custom Product. You can confirm this by heading over to the Google Channel and following the steps below:

  • Click ‘Manage availability’ beside the product status
  • Confirm that the custom product attribute has been filled out

The same thing is happening to my site. I have the UPC codes listed on my site, some even show on Google in the Merchant center, but it says I’m missing the GTIN or UPC code. It’s mainly one manufacturer and I know other retailers for the brand on Shopify are having similar problems.
