Hey all,
is it possible to directly ask for Customer Events permissions when requesting access to a store? I don’t see any option in the Permission tab:
A user is unable to find an option to request Customer Events permissions when requesting access to a Shopify store through the Partner Dashboard. The Permission tab only displays standard scopes like Products, Orders, Customers, and Themes.
Current limitation:
Shopify does not allow requesting Customer Events permissions directly via the standard store access request form. This is a more advanced/restricted scope not available in the default access flow.
Suggested workaround:
The issue remains unresolved as a platform limitation requiring manual merchant intervention.
Hey all,
is it possible to directly ask for Customer Events permissions when requesting access to a store? I don’t see any option in the Permission tab:
As of now, Shopify does not allow requesting Customer Events permissions directly via the standard store access request form. In the Partner Dashboard under “Request store access,” the Permission tab typically only includes standard scopes like Products, Orders, Customers, Themes, Apps, etc.
The Customer Events permission is part of the Shopify Customer Events API, which is a more advanced or restricted scope and often not available by default through the standard access request flow.
Submit the access request with available scopes (what’s shown in the permissions tab).
Then Ask the Merchant (Store Owner) Directly:
Once your access is approved, ask the store owner to enable the Customer Events permission manually by:
Going to Apps > App > Permissions
Granting access through the Admin or API if it’s available for that store/app context.
Use Shopify Plus or Custom Apps:
If you’re working with a Shopify Plus merchant or using a custom/private app, you may need to define the required scopes in the app setup (via OAuth) rather than through a collaborator request.
