Hi - considering using the new Atelier Theme by Shopify. It’s relatively new, so wanted to know if it’s good and if there are any issues with it? Prefer it to Dawn, but dawn is also reliable. Any thoughts?

This is one of the Horizon “family”
In fact, all themes in the “family” share the same code and differ only in some default settings, which can be changed “theme edit”.
So, basically, you can see reviews/opinions on Horizon/Savor, etc – all will apply to Atelier too.
Big pro – unprecedented flexibility. But may require you to spend a bit more time learning the ways.
Small con – less compatible with older browsers than, say Dawn.
Thank you @tim_tairli The UI is definitely a lot stronger, and moves away from the classic “dawn” themed websites, hence was exploring this for a client’s ecomm store. But could not find enough data on Atelier, the horizon theme has been around for a while, so i’m presuming Shopify will keep improving the atelier theme as well?
It’s ultimately the same theme.
You may check the theme version for themes in the “family” – they all have the same version. So every update to Horizon is an update to Atelier as well.
Will check. Thank you for all the help! @tim_tairli
Hi @snk729 ,
Atelier looks more modern and premium than Dawn, especially for fashion/lifestyle brands. It has better design aesthetics out of the box, but since it’s newer, it’s not as battle-tested as Dawn yet.
Dawn is still the safest option for stability, compatibility, and long-term reliability. Atelier is a good choice if design matters more and you’re okay with occasional adjustments/testing.
Hi, I’ve started using the Atelier Theme, i have a question - Can Atelier show colour variants as individual cards on collection pages while keeping them as variants under one parent product? Currently my client has 4 products available in different colourways, we need all the versions to show up on the shop all page
@tim_tairli @oscprofessional
Basically -
For a fashion store, if I have a product like a Tshirt available in Black, Navy and Grey, I want all three colourways to be visible as individual product cards in the collection/shop all pages, while still allowing customers to switch between colours via swatches on the PDP.
Would this setup support that workflow, or would all colour variants simply appear together as variants of a single product card?
Trying to achieve something similar to H&M/Zara where each colourway has its own visibility in the catalogue but remains connected through colour selection on the product page.
No. As far as I remember, no theme (from the theme store at least) can do that.
Frankly, this contradicts the Shopify architecture.
Some search and filter apps can do that since they replace collection display completely.
If this would be my goal, I’d rather approach it from the opposite direction – have every variation as a separate product, but somehow provide links to “siblings” on the product page.
Like Shopify native Combined listings (though Plus only) or some themes have similar functionality, like About product siblings | Broadcast Documentation.
Or some “Custom liquid” code …
