hello i just the emailed that needed me to get a attestation of branded products. I get my products from brick and mortar retail stores from Footlocker and nike.com and sell them at my own price. How would i get invoices from them showing my items are authentic? I have showed plenty of receipts of these items from the retail stores and still nothing. I emailed shopify plenty of times about my case and they dont answer my questions.
Hi there @bryan1995 !
Thanks for reaching out to share your queries with us here in the Shopify Community.
As we’re not able to provide legal advice from here ourselves, we would always have to direct merchants to contact a qualified legal expert in their jurisdiction with any legal questions you might have.
You can check out the info we have available on copyright and intellectual property here on our help site, bearing in mind as stated there that this is not legal advice.
If you have gotten an email out from one of our specialist teams, as you mentioned, then you can address your reply to that email directly as they would be the only team with access to and info on this.
Would you have some sort of permission or authorisation from the copyright holders you mentioned here to resell their goods?
This would be as opposed to a receipt showing that you had purchased these shoes privately for yourself.
how would i get permission from brick and mortar stores since i get my inventory from those stores?
Hi again @bryan1995 !
Apologies for my delay in getting back to you here as I have been away from work for quite some time.
As above, we wouldn’t be able to give legal advice from here so would have to direct your query towards a qualified expert in your jurisdiction.
That said, a retail store would be unlikely to (be able to) give you permission to resell copyrighted goods, so you would need to have permission from the copyright holders if you’re selling their copyrighted goods.
If you’re not in a position to obtain that explicit permission, you can look at selling other goods that are not under copyright.
All the best!
