I started my store on the 4th of Nov 2024. I am currently only marketing in Australia as I can only ship to Australia. So far around 230 visits came from Australia - 10 added to cart - no sales yet. Is this a normal to have zero sales after 200 visits or should I be concerned? The landing page in question: Royal Himalayan Salt Lamp Gift Set – Saltanat
Welcome to the community. My first advice is to be patient. You have a nice-looking store, good images, and a proper theme.
But there are a few things I noticed that you may think about.
First, you have .life domain. For a long time .com was considered the only proper domain. Now there are a lot of options but think visitors still trust the most in .com domain. Some also may have a bad experience with other domains as scammers use them a lot. But it just means you need to make a good name for your store, to show it is trustworthy.
And connected with that, your contact info is a far from full. Are you a business? Have a registration number, or address? An email with a domain name is a plus and a WhatsApp number but for me not enough.
I do not see any link to policy pages, important to some customers.
You said you are focused on Australia, but besides “Priority Shipping in Australia” in one section, and deep on product page info, not much is mentioned. It looks more like an international store. And default currency is USD and maybe your customers from Australia have an issue with that.
And as a new store, that 60% mega sale looks fishy, you know like price is too good to be true. But also there are much cheaper alternatives online, maybe in different sizes. So could be hard for customers to commit.
Now for your pages, I have a few tips:
- Homepage: for me, that header is too big, your logo is important but maybe it takes too much space and those 2 social icons hang a bit strangely there.
- Homepage: that banner image is great but it is huge, takes a lot of space and the call to action is too low.
- Plant a tree section: it is great but you could add a link to a separate page and explain more about how that actually works
- Homepage: make sure you do not have sold-out products featured here
- Homepage: a featured product do not have an image
The page you linked and seems focused on looks off to me. It is more of a homepage and not a product page. You do have a sticky product bar which is good. But visitor needs to scroll and scroll to get to some real info. Before is all marketing, that can go after but to me before it is annoying. Think the before/after slider is not a good choice here. Both images are good and by splitting them like that you get a messy mix. And do check other products, on those pages header is over the good part of the product, and on hover it looks off.
Anyway, good luck with the sales, they will come for sure.
Hi @SaltanatLife ,
This is Kate from PageFly - Shopify Landing Page Builder App.
Your website is beautifully designed and elegant. It’s clear that you’ve put a lot of thought and effort into creating a great online presence.
From my experience, I noticed a few things that could be improved on your website.
1. Add “Call to action” button to the banner
The first 5-second impression is really important. Having a clear CTA button above the fold can encourage site visitors to take action.
2. Call-to-Action (CTA) Optimization
- CTA Button: Make sure the “Add to Cart” button stands out visually. Consider a color that contrasts well with the page while aligning with your brand.
- Urgency or Scarcity: Consider adding phrases like “Limited Stock” or a countdown for limited-time offers to create urgency.
- Additional CTAs: Include a secondary CTA like “Learn More” that anchors down to further details about the product or “Add to Wishlist” to retain interest from undecided customers.
3. Add Limited-Time Discounts
- Countdown Timer: Add a countdown timer above the “Add to Cart” button or at the top of the page that shows a special deal expiring soon, like “15% off for the next 2 hours!” This creates urgency for shoppers to act quickly.
- Flash Sales: Occasionally run short flash sales (e.g., “24-hour discount on all Himalayan Salt Lamps!”). Make the timer highly visible so customers feel motivated to buy before the offer expires.
That’s all of my feedback. Hope it helps to increase your conversion rate.
Cheers,
Kate | PageFly team
Hey there! This is Alexis from Akohub. It’s completely normal to feel a bit concerned when you see 200 visits but no sales, especially when you’ve just launched. Don’t worry; you’re definitely on the right track by analyzing the data and considering adjustments. Since you’re only shipping to Australia and have around 10 people adding to their cart out of 200 visitors, that’s actually a promising start. Here’s a breakdown of things you could try to encourage conversions and get some momentum:
First, you’ve got a strong product with a unique appeal. Royal Himalayan Salt Lamps have a niche market, so it’s important to showcase what makes your lamp set different. Your landing page looks visually appealing, but building trust is key, especially with higher-priced items. Adding customer testimonials or reviews, if you have them (or plan to collect them), can make a big difference. Shoppers often look for social proof, so even a few early reviews can help reassure new visitors.
Consider adding a bit more storytelling to the product page. You’ve done a nice job highlighting the features, but you could lean more into the benefits, like the ambiance and wellness aspects of Himalayan salt lamps. Explain how it can enhance their space or daily life. A brief paragraph or a callout that explains the unique value of a handcrafted, eco-friendly product from the Himalayas might make the product feel even more special and worth the investment.
You’ve got urgency tactics going on with the “Only 90 left” and “Limited Time Mega Sale” tags, which are great. You could take this further by including a countdown timer on the sale. When shoppers see that time is running out, it often encourages them to act sooner. Adding an extra touch like “Free shipping within Australia” in a prominent place can also help sweeten the deal.
If you’re noticing visitors adding to their cart but not checking out, it’s a good time to consider retargeting. Many online shoppers need that second (or third) nudge to complete their purchase. Using a tool like Ako Retargeting can automatically send reminders to those who left items in their cart, bringing them back with a small discount or reminder about the sale. Retargeting ads through Facebook or Instagram can also help reach those people again, especially if you add some creative with benefits of the lamp or lifestyle visuals showing it in a cozy setting.
You might also consider offering a small incentive for first-time customers, like 10% off their first purchase. Paired with your loyalty program through Ako Loyalty, you could encourage repeat purchases by offering rewards for coming back or referring friends. It’s a great way to build up that customer base early on.
Lastly, think about capturing emails with a “Sign up for exclusive offers” prompt. Since some people might be interested but not ready to buy right away, having their email means you can stay in touch, notify them of future sales, or offer tips on using the salt lamp, which can keep your brand top-of-mind.
Overall, you’re in a great starting position! Keep testing small changes, track what’s working, and be patient with the process. The early stages are all about gathering data and making adjustments based on what you’re seeing.
Good luck, and feel free to share any updates! It’ll be exciting to see your progress.
Hi @SaltanatLife , I’m Tracy from BON Loyalty, the top-rated Shopify loyalty app.
I understand how you’re feeling – getting zero sales after 200+ visits can be concerning, but it’s actually pretty common in the early days of a new store. Having 10 add-to-cart actions out of 230 visits shows interest (around 4.3%), actually is not bad for early traffic. Typically, an average add-to-cart rate sits around 5-10%, so they’re in range. However, moving customers from “add-to-cart” to “purchase” is often challenging, especially for newer stores without a strong brand presence yet. Let’s go through some factors to help determine whether this is just a starting phase or if there are specific improvements that can boost conversions.
1. Welcome pop-up or first-time offer
- Why: New customers are more likely to take action when they feel they’re getting a unique deal. Offering a small discount for first-time buyers (like 10-15% off) or a free shipping incentive can lower the barrier to their first purchase.
- How: Implement a welcome pop-up that appears after a few seconds on the site or as they’re about to leave (exit-intent). As I see here, you already set up a welcome pop-up for this store but with the different purpose. You can consider to change it to the tactic I suggest and track if the result is more effective this way.
2. Create urgency and scarcity
- Why: Urgency and scarcity motivate customers to act sooner, fearing they might miss out on a deal.
- How: Try adding timers or limited stock notifications on product pages. For instance, “Only 5 left in stock!” or “Sale ends tonight!” These small changes can add a sense of urgency that nudges hesitant buyers. I see that you are offering a Limited time mega sale with 60% off on your store, however, because their is no timer, this may not create the urgent feeling.
Plus, I notice that you also put the “Only … left. Order soon!” message on the product page. I think you should only show this message when the number is small (<10 products in stock). The current number (90 products) is quite big so visitors may not feel like they have to buy it right away.
3. Retargeting ads with dynamic product ads
- Why: For early-stage stores, retargeting ads are incredibly useful. A retargeting campaign can gently remind previous visitors who showed interest but didn’t complete the purchase. This tactic often converts well since they’re already somewhat familiar with the brand.
- How: Use Facebook Pixel to set up Dynamic Product Ads, showing visitors the products they’ve viewed on the site. Pair this with an offer or free shipping message to encourage them to complete their purchase.
4. Abandoned cart emails
- Why: Customers often get distracted or hesitate at checkout. A gentle reminder via email can bring them back to complete their purchase.
- How: Set up an automated email sequence that sends within an hour of abandoning the cart and then again in 24 hours with a “last chance” or “extra discount” message. Many e-commerce platforms, including Shopify, support abandoned cart emails.
5. Trust badges and return policy
- Why: Clearly stated policies build confidence, especially with new visitors who may not be familiar with the brand.
- How: As I check, you also state the Refund policy in the description part of your product, however, visitors have to click it in order to view the full content (which they may not do because of the laziness). Add trust badges (like SSL secure checkout) on the website homepage, and in the product page near the “Add to Cart” button. Highlight a straightforward return policy or satisfaction guarantee to assure potential buyers that they can shop risk-free. Here is the example of some trust badges images you can easily find online:
6. Streamline the checkout experience
- Why: Sometimes customers don’t complete purchases due to unexpected factors like added shipping fees, a lengthy process, or a lack of trust signals.
- How: I suggest going through the checkout yourself as if you’re a customer to see if there’s anything that might be causing friction. Look out for details like clear shipping information, payment security indicators, and any possible steps that could be simplified.
It’s normal to have a slow start, so don’t worry – just a few tweaks to improve the customer experience, build trust, and stay engaged with visitors can make a real difference over time. Good luck!

HI Tracy,

HI Alexis,
Thank you for auditing my store. I will try to make the recommended changes. Cheers!
Thank you, Laza. I will try implementing the changes. I appreciate your time and help!
Thank you for the feedback, Kate. I have made a lot of the changes as suggested by yourself and other here. I appreciate you taking out the time to review it. Best,
Thanks for sharing your situation! First off, it’s common for new Shopify store owners to face challenges converting visitors into customers, so don’t worry—you’re not alone. Based on what you’ve shared, here’s a breakdown of what might be happening and some actionable suggestions to improve your landing page and sales funnel:
1. Is it normal to have no sales after 200 visits?
Yes, this can happen, especially for new stores. The average eCommerce conversion rate is around 1-3%. So with 200 visitors, you might expect 2-6 sales. The fact that 10 people added to cart shows interest, but there’s a gap in the checkout process, and this is where you can focus your efforts.
2. Audit of Your Landing Page
Here are my thoughts after reviewing your product page:
Strengths:- The product images are clean and visually appealing, which is great for building trust.
- The product description provides some key details, like the benefits of Himalayan salt lamps.
- The page looks neat and organized, which enhances readability.
Areas for Improvement:
1-Product Description:
- Right now, the description is functional, but it doesn’t inspire emotional connection. Use storytelling to emphasize how the lamp can create a relaxing ambiance or improve well-being. For example: “Imagine coming home after a stressful day and unwinding under the soothing glow of this natural Himalayan salt lamp. It’s more than just a lamp—it’s your personal retreat.”
2-Highlight Unique Selling Points (USPs):
- Add bullet points near the top of the page to quickly highlight:
- Eco-friendliness
- Handmade or natural qualities
- What sets your lamp apart from competitors (e.g., gift-worthy packaging, superior quality).
3-Trust Signals:
- Add reviews and testimonials (even if it’s from friends or family initially).
- Include certifications or guarantees (e.g., “100% Natural Himalayan Salt” or “Satisfaction Guaranteed”).
4-Call to Action (CTA):
- Your “Add to Cart” button is good, but consider making it stand out more (e.g., a brighter color).
- Add a sense of urgency like: “Limited stock available—order today to brighten up your space!”
5-Shipping Information:
- Add clear details on shipping times and costs (especially since you only ship to Australia). Uncertainty here can deter purchases.
6-Improved Visuals:
- Add lifestyle images or a video showing the lamp in a cozy setting like a bedroom or living room. This helps customers visualize the product in their homes.
3. Analyze User Behavior
If you’re not already doing this, use tools like Hotjar or Lucky Orange to track:
- Where users click on your page.
- How far they scroll.
- Where they drop off in the cart process.
This can help pinpoint why users aren’t completing their purchase.
4. Targeted Marketing Suggestions
1-Audience Match:
- Are you targeting the right audience in Australia? Himalayan salt lamps often appeal to wellness enthusiasts, yoga practitioners, or home decor lovers. Double-check your ad targeting.
2-Ad Copy and Creatives:
- Test ad copies emphasizing relaxation, health benefits, or gifting potential (it’s the holiday season soon!).
3-Social Proof:
- Share photos of the product in use on your social media or even on the landing page. Encourage customers (or friends) to post about it.
5. A Quick Mockup for Inspiration
Here’s how you might present the benefits visually:
Example Section Layout:
Transform Your Space with the Royal Himalayan Salt Lamp Gift Set
- ? Relaxation Guaranteed: Creates a calming atmosphere for better focus and relaxation.
Eco-Friendly & Natural: Handmade from premium Himalayan salt.
Perfect Gift: Comes in an elegant gift box for every occasion.
