Authorize.Net needs to be updated keeps showing

The “Authorize.net needs to be updated, or it will stop processing payments soon. Update provider” keeps showing at the top of my screen on the main page eventhough I have updated/installed the Authorize.Net app and activated it.

The notification at the top means Shopify doesn’t think the update process has been fully completed, even if the app is already installed

You can try the following:

First, make sure you’re using the “Update” button from the notification bar itself. Go to Settings → Payments, then click Update. Installing the app separately doesn’t always clear the banner—the process needs to start from that notification.
Check if Authorize(dot)net is also set up as a secondary gateway. If it is (for example, for older subscriptions), you’ll need to update it in both places. The notification bar won’t go away until both are updated.
Confirm that you completed the full setup after installing. That means clicking Connect to Authorize(dot)net, entering your credentials, then clicking Activate and Save. Missing any of these steps can cause the notification bar to stay.
It’s also worth trying the whole process again. Go back to Settings → Payments, click Update from the banner, and go through each step carefully from start to finish.

If you’ve done all of this and the notification bar is still there, then it’s likely something on Shopify’s side. In that case, the best option is to contact Shopify Support https://help.shopify.com/en/ and ask them to check it from their end.

First, Problem Solved.

I had tried to do all you suggested already, but I couldn’t “re-do” anything I would have had to unintsall and try again which I was reluctant to even try. After reading your post (thank you) I was going to try again, but when I logged in… the update banner was gone. I think it was a cache issue. All looks fine today.

I’m posting this for anyone else who still sees the banner after they install, activate and save, they should wait 24 hours if they banner doesn’t go away right instantly.
