Auto Description generator generates everything in English.

Hello Shopify Community,

I started to do researches on SEO handling and to that end, decided to make my product descriptions a bit better.

My shop’s standard language is in German:

However, when I give keywords and short descriptions to generate a structured description, it writes the translated description in English, even when the input text is in German:

It throws an error when I give special instructions to write the description in German:

Giving the special instructions in English or German doesn’t matter. Sometimes the error is what you see in the above screenshot, and sometimes it’s just “null”.

I must be doing something wrong but I can’t figure out what that is. Can anybody help me please?

  • Check Language Settings: Make sure your Shopify store’s primary language is set to German. Go to your Shopify admin panel and navigate to Settings > Languages. Ensure that German is set as the default language.

  • Adjust Description Generation Tool: If you’re using an app or tool for auto-generating descriptions, check the app settings to see if there’s an option to change the language. Some tools might automatically generate content in English, but allow you to switch to another language like German.

  • Customizations: If the tool doesn’t support German descriptions directly, consider customizing the auto description generation script to include a translation feature, or use a translation app to convert the English content to German automatically.

  • Manual Language Override: If automated descriptions continue to generate in English, you may need to manually adjust the descriptions after they’re created or look for an alternative SEO tool that supports German.
