Automated PDF License Generation after an Order

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a Shopify-native solution to automate license agreements for my music sample packs.

The Workflow: When a customer buys a pack, I need to generate a PDF license that dynamically inserts the Customer’s Name and the Product Name. This PDF should then be:

  • Attached to the Order Confirmation email, OR

  • Sent via a separate automated email immediately after purchase.

I want to avoid external tools like Zapier/n8n and keep everything within Shopify if possible.

My Questions:

  1. Is there an app that allows creating custom PDF templates (using Liquid/HTML) that aren’t just for invoices?

  2. Specifically, which apps can reliably attach these dynamic PDFs to Shopify’s notification emails (or send their own)?

  3. Has anyone successfully used an “Invoice” app for legal licenses by simply swapping the template?

Of course there are other Apps you can try, just wanted to mention Mechanic which has a task like this (it’s caller Send a PDF invoice, but in fact you can create your own Liquid template the way you need/like).

The app can be a bit more difficult to configure, but it gives you great flexibility and you can use it for many other automation jobs.
