Automatic discount when a subscription is in the cart

I want to apply an automatic 20% discount to all items in a collection when a customer has a subscription in their cart. Automatic discounts do not get applied at checkout or when I manually type them in. I am using the new Shopify Subscription feature. The selling plan is successfully added to the subscription. Everything looks like it should work but automatic discounts do not get applied.

Cart example

  1. T-shirt in Members Only collection should get 20% off when Subscription is in cart

  2. Pants in Members Only collection should get 20% off when Subscription is in cart

  3. Subscription (Renews every year)

Is there a workaround? Why don’t Buy X when Y automatic discounts work with subscriptions?
