Beginner-Friendly Video Editing Tools for Shopify Store Owners?

I’m a beginner Shopify store owner and don’t know much about video editing. What tools would you recommend for creating simple promotional videos? I’ve heard that mobile-friendly editors are great—any tips or suggestions for someone just starting out?

Hi Diego @deigosantos I’d suggest you just go through YouTube and check out as many videos as time permits you to, you’ll likely find the one that suits you most. I don’t want to recommend a particular one for you considering it may not really be in line with your taste or the vision you have, so it’s very important to explore at this beginner stage you’re at.

Hi @deigosantos ! I’m Tracy from BON Loyalty, the top-rated loyalty program app.

It’s hard to recommend the “best” tool since each one has its own strengths and weaknesses. You can start with CapCut because it’s very well-optimized for mobile devices. From there, you can follow tutorials to learn how to use it effectively. Most importantly, practice as much as you can to improve your skills over time. Good luck!

Hi @deigosantos

As a beginner, you can start with tools offering free plan to explore features, and then upgrade to a paid plan if you find them suitable. Here are a few beginner-friendly options:

  1. CapCut
Pros: Very easy to use with a variety of templates, free music library, and special effects
Cons: Limited advanced features compared to desktop software
Best for: Beginners looking for real quick videos. Great for creating social media videos or ads.

  2. InShot
Pros: User-friendly, mobile-friendly, and offers video trimming, text, and music features
Cons: Watermark on the free plan (can be removed with a paid version)
Best for: Perfect for Shopify store owners creating quick promotional content and product highlights on mobile devices.

  3. Canva
Pros: Beginner-friendly, offers templates for social media and promotional videos. Easy to add text, animations, and transitions.
Cons: Limited video editing options compared to others
Best for: Simple videos and those looking to combine graphics with video

  4. Adobe Premiere Rush
Pros: Professional-grade editing tools, simple interface.
Cons: Limited features compared to full Adobe Premiere Pro, some features behind a paywall.
Best for: Suitable for those who want more control over their videos but don’t want the complexity of advanced tools.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best regards,
Daisy

I started out pretty much in the same boat as you, trying to make basic promo videos for my online store without knowing a ton about editing. What helped me a lot was using a tool that didn’t feel overwhelming but still had enough functions, like trimming, adding text, and adjusting timing. I really liked having the option to work from both my laptop and phone depending on what I needed. One small thing that made a surprisingly big difference in getting engagement was adding a countdown timer to videos, it gave the promos a kind of urgency that worked really well for sales.

As a beginner, you want a mobile friendly, easy to use tools to meke promo videos for your shopify store. There are several excellent video editing tools i would like to recommend:

  • CapCut
  • InShot
  • Vimeo Create
  • FilmoraGo
  • Clipchamp

I hope this will helps.
