Best addon App for showing discounted prices on product page?

Topic summary

A merchant with thousands of product variants (apparel in multiple colors/sizes) is seeking an app to automatically display discounted prices on product pages without using Shopify’s manual “Compare at Price” feature, which they find impractical for large catalogs.

Key Requirements:

  • Automatic discount display based on Shopify’s native discount settings (not Compare at Price)
  • Ability to apply discounts by collection or product tags
  • Cost-effective pricing (not percentage-based revenue sharing)
  • Support for variant-level discounts

Apps Under Consideration:

  • Regios Discounts ($30-100/month based on discounted orders, not total volume; 97 reviews) - requires discounts created within the app, not Shopify native
  • Discounty ($19-75/month based on variant count)
  • Heart Coding ($9-25/month, 398 reviews at 4.9★)
  • Yagi ($7/month, new with few reviews)

Community Clarification:
Several developers confirmed that no app can directly display discounts from Shopify’s native Discount Codes section. Apps either:

  1. Use Compare at Price (which the merchant rejects as too manual)
  2. Create their own discount logic within the app

Multiple app developers (BiDeal, Alpha Sale, SALE+, BOGOS, Growth Suite) pitched their solutions, most offering free trials and pricing between $0-30/month with various feature sets including bundles, volume discounts, and promotional campaigns.

I’ve searched high and low for a good list of apps that will show the discounted price on the product page, with reviews and comments from store owners that use them. I’ve only found people like me who are hunting for how to do this and not wanting to give away % of sales etc.

What I’ve found so far (in no particular order):

-Discount Labelz - this app only puts a label on image, but it is also only $12.99, so it might be a good add on later once I’ve got the price part handled. But only gets a 3.2 review score!

-Yagi - This app appears to do what I need, but its brand new and has very few reviews. It is inexpensive at $7, so I might give it a test.

-Discounty - This app appears to solve the problem, but is pricier at 19/40/75, depending on how many variants you have. We have thousands of variants because we sell apparel in different colors and sizes. ONE product could have 78 variants (and we’d love to add more, but Shopify has a dumb limit of 100 variants per product–that will be another search to see if an app solves that problem). So this would cost us $75/month

Heart Coding- Looks to solve the problem and is either $9 or $25, but its hard to tell if it solves the display problem exactly. Has 398 reviews at 4.9 rating, so people are happy with it.

Adsgun-Solves the problem, looks to solve the problem, but new with only 7 reviews. Also they charge $29 PLUS a percentage of revenue - which is probably why it has so few reviews.

Regios-This has 97 reviews and looks to solve the problem, but also is somewhat expensive at $30/50/100 depending on your order volume - <500/<1000/>1000 orders. We are closing in on the $100 mark IE over 1000 orders/month.

What else is out there? What do you use?

If you are a discount display app maker, if you are going to reply please reply with the following:

  1. Does your app automatically display the discount amount based on discounts entered in Shopify native discounts settings

  2. Pricing for your app

  3. Number of reviews and score

  4. What extra does your app do for pricing/discounting specifically

Hello IslandJay,

I am the founder of Regios Technologies, Inc., the company behind Regios Discounts.

I understand your concerns about pricing and would like to clarify that our pricing tiers are based on the number of orders you apply discounts to through our app, not your store’s total order volume. For example, if your store has 1,000 orders in a month, but only 100 of those orders use a discount from Regios, you’d be eligible for the $29.99/mo. tier.

What theme are you using? I can give you instructions on how to add the app to your theme.

EDIT: Some additional clarifications:

  • Our app only supports displaying discounts on product pages if the discounts were created in our app.
  • All of our pricing tiers are flat. We don’t charge based on a percentage of revenue.

Best,

Tobe

Thanks for the quick reply…that in and of itself is promising!

Some quick questions:

-I assume your discount creation app can handle super simple discount methods linked to existing shopify concepts - namely collections and product tags? So I can create a collection with Shopify, and quickly use your app to say this collection is now 20% off for all customers (or narrow that down to specific customer tags or segments)?

-How do you handle pricing - I’m not sure how many discount orders we have, but probably under 500 - so the $29/month tier. What happens if we cross to 501? Do you automatically change the bill (I hope) vs stop discounting until we upgrade the plan (not ideal).

-Do You have any details on the types of discounts you handle?

-Can you show me how you display the discounts, and what options we have regarding display variations?

Julian

And one last question, could your app handle putting one variant on sale?

Hi @IslandJay

Based on your question about displaying discounted prices on product pages with easy setup and cost-effectiveness, I highly recommend the BiDeal Bundle Volume Discounts app.

Here’s why BiDeal is a great fit for your needs:

  • Automatically displays discounted prices based on the discounts you set up in Shopify, so you don’t need to manage prices manually.

  • It’s easy to set up and intuitive, perfect for merchants who want to quickly implement discount displays without complex configurations.

  • The app supports dynamic volume discounts and bundles, which can enhance your pricing strategy and showcase real savings clearly to customers.

  • Cost-effective pricing: BiDeal is free to use until your monthly revenue reaches $500, which is excellent for small stores or those just starting with promotions.

  • Once you decide to upgrade, every plan comes with a 7-day free trial, giving you risk-free time to test all features and confirm it fits your store’s needs.

  • BiDeal also goes beyond simple discount labels by providing bundle offers and volume pricing that can significantly boost average order value.

Storefront will display as your configuration

If you’re looking for a reliable, easy-to-use, and budget-friendly app to show discounted prices on your product pages with added benefits like bundles and volume discounts, BiDeal Bundle Volume Discounts is an excellent choice.

I tried to find a company using your product based off the 5 reviews you have but was unable to do so.

Thanks for responding.

Let me know if you need any assistance!

Also, can you point me at a site that is using your product to display discounted amounts on product pages and collection pages.

Hi @IslandJay!

Did you have a chance to check out our Alpha Sale app?

The app automatically adds discounted pricing using the compare-at price, similar to Hearcoding or Discounty. So if your theme supports displaying discount badges for products with a compare-at price, you’re all set and the discount will also be shown on your product pages.

We’re proud to have a 4.9 rating with over 180 reviews :slightly_smiling_face:

Also, just to clarify: only products are counted toward the app limits — the number of variants your products have does not affect pricing.

And there are many other discount-related features you will find in the app!

Just let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hello Kathy,

So can your discount app show strikethrough and new pricing based on the discounts from the shopify discounts function? If not, does it have its own app that doesn’t require we download and upload things from a separate db/system? I want something seemless that is easy to use and will grow with our business.

Does shopify not provide a default solution to show which product are discounted by showing the stricked price and the new price with a “Sale” badge?

Shopify does NOT have this capability out of the box…which is INSANE! I think it must have been something they forgot when they originally built the solution, then a bunch of app developers solved the problem, now they are afraid of angering their app developers by building it in natively, so we all have to pay for a BASIC eCommerce function! Crazy but true.

If I look at the free Dawn Theme, this is what I see when I have a discounted price:

This is the product page:

This other variant is not discounted:

This is the product card when seen on another page:

If this is the behavior you are looking for, this works in the Dawn free theme. It is maybe related to the Theme you are using. What theme are you on?

Are you sure it’s not doing that via “Compare At Price”?

I apologize for misunderstanding your original question. I’ve always thought of Shopify’s native discounting as the “compare-at price” feature.

From my experience, the best way to show regular product discounts across your store is with the compare-at price, since Shopify displays this automatically on product and collection pages with a crossed-out “was” price and a sale badge. I usually recommend keeping Shopify’s discount codes for promotions or special deals that only need to show up at checkout.

As far as I know, no app can directly use Shopify’s built-in discount tool the way you described. Most apps create their own version of a discount inside the app and then show it on the product page. If you want to set it up manually without an app, you can do that with tags or product notes, but that display won’t actually be linked to Shopify’s discount, it’s just a way to make it look like it is.

Hi Julian,

Thanks for your questions.

I assume your discount creation app can handle super simple discount methods linked to existing shopify concepts - namely collections and product tags? So I can create a collection with Shopify, and quickly use your app to say this collection is now 20% off for all customers (or narrow that down to specific customer tags or segments)?

Yes, our app supports collections and product tags. Our app offers a variety of product/customer eligibility options.

How do you handle pricing - I’m not sure how many discount orders we have, but probably under 500 - so the $29/month tier. What happens if we cross to 501? Do you automatically change the bill (I hope) vs stop discounting until we upgrade the plan (not ideal).

Our app bills through Shopify. Shopify’s app billing system does not allow apps to automatically change a merchant’s subscription price. The merchant must manually approve any charges. Although we do not currently disable discounts once you have exceeded your limit, we may use this option in the future.

Do You have any details on the types of discounts you handle?

Here is an article about the capabilities of Regios Discounts.

Can you show me how you display the discounts, and what options we have regarding display variations?

I recommend reading this helpdesk article about displaying discounts on product pages.

And one last question, could your app handle putting one variant on sale?

Yes.

Also, can you point me at a site that is using your product to display discounted amounts on product pages and collection pages.

If you click “View demo store” on our Shopify App Store page, you can view a demonstration of this feature.

LMK if you have further questions.

Best,

Compare at price is useless when you want to offer discounts on large numbers of items. Takes FOREVER to change, then you have to change it back….its laughable.

Hi @IslandJay :waving_hand:

Thanks for your posting here! There are two apps from our WizzCommerce ecosystem that can help with native Shopify discount display. I’ll break them down below for clarity:

I - SALE+ (Sale & Discount Manager)

  1. Does your app automatically display the discount amount based on Shopify’s native discount settings?

Yes. SALE+ automatically displays discounted prices on both product pages and collection pages, directly pulling from Shopify’s native discount settings. It shows the strike-through “Compare at Price”, % off, and badges.

  1. Pricing: Free plan (50 variants). Paid plans start at $7.99/month. No % of revenue.
  2. Reviews: 63+ reviews, 4.3/5
  3. Extra features: Bulk price editor, Flash Sale with countdown, badges & banners, discount rules by collection/tag/customer/variant

II - Snap Bundle (Bundle & Volume Discounts)

  1. Does your app automatically display the discount amount based on Shopify’s native discount settings?

Yes. Snap Bundle supports automatic display of discounted prices on product pages and in cart, integrated with Shopify’s native discount settings. It also shows strike-through “Compare at Price” for bundle and volume deals.

  1. Pricing: Free plan (for stores under $100 revenue). Paid plans start at $12.99/month.
  2. Reviews: 46+ reviews, 4.8/5, Built for Shopify.
  3. Extra features: Quantity breaks, Mix & Match bundles, Product add-ons, Post-purchase upsell, discount badges, low stock counter, announcement bar.

Both apps work with Shopify’s native discount system, showing clear strike-through pricing and flexible display options to match your store design.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.

The “Compare At Price” function is pretty useless to stores with large numbers of products and SKUs like ours. So does your app show the prices calculated from the DISCOUNTS section of shopify, where one can offer a % off a collection?
