When creating products on my store, what are the best practices to help them rank higher in google shopping organically?
Hello ThePrintTavern, that is a very good question, and very, very difficult to answer.
You will most likely be a merchant among hundreds if not thousands of others, competing for the top spots. You can imagine the math on that already.
To rank well, you need to have a high quality website, that loads under 3 seconds.
By high quality I mean, a smooth looking website, that is easy to use, unique, original.
You need to also work on having high quality data content, you can find all the recommendations and requirements here: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/7052112
Then aim for getting the store badge, explained here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftr7tsROqmM

The store badge includes having a favorable returns policy, shipping price and transit time, reviews, 8 images or more, images that are above 1300 pixels, etc.
Then over time, you will start to get more and more performance.
However, and this is important, don’t expect much from free shopping listings. You will only get maximum and that is if you are lucky, about 10% compared to shopping ads. So ask yourself, is it worth all your time and effort for potentially getting 10% traffic, or can you invest your time in setting up shopping ads, and get much quicker results.
