Best way to handle variant inventory going out of stock

We are making a store with customized trinkets. We have an ingredient that serves as a variant, and that variant is used in each product. When that ingredient inventory runs out that variant needs to be automatically removed from every product.

What is the best way to handle 1. inventory being drawn from the same ingredient inventory through different products and 2. removing variant option from all products when that ingredient inventory runs out?

Thanks!

Hi

You would need to bundle each kit up with the relevant SKUs.

For example:

Product 1 - Bundle of SKU ABC(ingredient) & XYZ

Product 2 - Bundle of SKU: ABC(ingredient) & ZZZ

Our bundle app will let you connect up all your products to correct SKUs and we then update their inventory based on the component stock level. So in above example both products would update if product ABC changes. The inventory shown for both would be based on how much of the bundle can be made from all component stock levels.

We also have the additional option of unbundling orders made for a bundled product into the component SKUs post purchase. This way the order lines are only for components and can be fulfilled as per normal.
