Best way to manage my products?

Hi All,

i’ve a base problem with setting up my shop. Let me try to explain our problem.

We’re selling Hardware Tools, that means drill bits, reamers, end mills, etc. So we have a “Main Prdocut” with many different “variations”.

For example we have a item called, HSS Drill DIN338, this item has variants of 1mm, 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, up to 50 different items. We have a problem when we make this as variations, because there are so many buttons to choose. It’s better to show them as a table. My Main Poduct and all connected variantions as table instead of buttons. Is this possible?

Another option is collections i think. Here we can show all collection as table instad of ui/li list, right?

How about showing your variants as a drop down vs. buttons? This is usually dependent on your theme.

From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes > Customize. Here is where all of your built-in customization options are for the product page.

In the TOP MENU > Select Products > Defaults Product
Within the left sidebar menu look for the Product Information section and click on Variant Picker > select Dropdown Type.

Product variants are useful when their is price difference.

All your features don’t require any price change.

Therefore all others details about Drill can be shown using table.

Yeah, Shopify’s default variant buttons aren’t great when you’ve got 50+ drill bit sizes. Some themes/apps can show variants in a table view, which fixes the display part. But for managing a big catalogue with lots of specs, a PIM that connects to Shopify like UnoPIM (https://unopim.com/) can make life easier since you handle all data in one place and just sync it over.

There are apps or you could use custom Liquid to display product variants in a table. Hardware tools need a table rather than radio buttons. Third-party “variant table” solutions or apps for example Matrixify. Alternatively, modify collection templates so objects are presented as tabular data.
