Best way to pass sales to my distributors

My company sells our products through Distributors who in turn re-sell to end users. We often have end users contacting us to purchase products and instead of manually forwarding these enquiries over to our distributors by email, I would like to create an online sales platform that works like this:

(1) End customer orders from my site

(2) The order is allocated to a Distributor

(3) The Distributor receives the Revenue directly and fulfills the order

(4) The end customer can see their order status on my site, see tracking info, etc.

(5) Platform must be compatible with subscription ordering services to encourage ongoing revenue and re-orders

I have already tried Shopify Collective (not compatible with subscription ordering), Garnet Marketplace (did not experience reliable order management information - could not see where orders were being assigned), and Webkul Marketplace (Global product not compatible with subscription ordering).

My situation is a bit different in that I don’t want to realize the revenue - I just want a clean way to pass orders through to my distributors and encourage re-ordering through subscription services. Would appreciate any suggestions and advice!

Hi @water3

It sounds like you’re looking for a marketplace solution where distributors handle payments and fulfillment directly, while still giving your customers a smooth ordering and subscription experience.

Here are a few approaches you could consider:

  1. Non-Shopify Marketplace Platforms – Tools like Sharetribe Flex or Arcadier allow you to:

    • Assign orders automatically to distributors

    • Enable direct payouts to distributors

    • Build customer dashboards for tracking orders

    • Support subscription / recurring orders with customization

  2. Shopify + Apps – You could use a combination of:

    • Multi-vendor marketplace apps (e.g., Webkul Multi-Vendor, Bold Multi-Channel)

    • Subscription apps (e.g., Recharge)
However, Shopify usually routes subscription payments through your store first, so you’d need some custom coding to pass revenue directly to distributors.

  3. Custom Solution – If you need full control over order allocation, direct payouts, and subscription management, a small custom web app integrated with Stripe Connect or PayPal Adaptive Payouts can handle everything exactly how you want.

:light_bulb: Key insight: For direct distributor revenue + subscription support, non-Shopify marketplace platforms or a custom solution are often the cleanest path.

I hope It’s will HELP

I appreciate your quick reply and clear paths! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

What you’re describing is essentially a distributor marketplace setup with subscription support. Out of the box, Shopify doesn’t handle this flow natively, which is why you’ve run into limitations with Collective, Garnet, and Webkul.

The cleanest solution is usually a custom setup (or a hybrid app approach) that allows:

  • Orders to be routed to the correct distributor automatically.

  • Payment to go directly to the distributor instead of your account.

  • Full subscription compatibility so end customers can re-order seamlessly.

This type of workflow often requires some customization, since most marketplace apps assume the store owner collects the revenue. The good news is that it’s doable — but you’ll need either a custom build or a developer to tweak existing apps to match your distributor model.

HI @water3 ,

It sounds like you’re looking for a streamlined solution that connects your end customers with distributors while managing orders and subscriptions effectively. Here’s a potential approach you could consider:

  1. Use Shopify Plus with Custom Apps: Shopify Plus offers more customization options than regular plans. You can build a custom solution or integrate apps that can pass orders directly to your distributors. This would allow your distributors to fulfill orders while keeping customers updated on the order status and tracking info.

  2. Third-Party Apps for Subscriptions: To integrate subscription services, you might want to look into apps like ReCharge or Bold Subscriptions. These apps allow you to create recurring billing for products and are generally compatible with third-party order management systems. You can then link the subscription data with your distributor’s order process.

  3. Custom Order Routing: You could consider a custom solution for order routing, where the system automatically assigns orders to distributors based on set criteria (e.g., geographic location, product type, etc.). Shopify’s API or custom apps could facilitate this automation.

  4. Marketplace & Order Management System: If Shopify Collective and other marketplace apps didn’t meet your needs, try Shopify’s Wholesale Channel or Multi-Location Inventory features. These can help you manage orders from different distributors while keeping track of inventory and fulfillment.

  5. Ongoing Revenue & Re-orders: For ongoing revenue, subscriptions could be a great fit. Apps like ReCharge not only manage subscriptions but also allow for easy customer retention strategies like discounts or loyalty programs.

This approach should help you set up a clean system for passing orders, integrating subscription services, and automating your order fulfillment process with your distributors.

Best,
Felix
