Bilingual site - External links - Can't link to both languages

I run a bilingual shop on the debut theme. I am using the Translation lab plugin to translate the site from French to English and it works great. However, it is not possible for us to add an external link to the main menu and provide users links to the language of their choice.

I can add one external link to the about us item menu and it will point to the english page on my site, but there is no place for me to add an external link to the french page on my site when people click on À propos de nous on my french shopify store page.

I have contacted both the plugin developers and shopify tech support after trying to debug this for a few days and both have confirmed this is not native to Shopify which seems silly. Shopify tech support suggested I contact a developer. I can’t imagine I am the first or the only shop keeper with this issue? Can someone give me some pointers or explain how this can be done?

@Yanik - do you have french site link? and do you want it in the main menu?

Hi @Yanik ,

Please share your store URL and password if it is password-protected.

This kind of functionality is on the Routing system which maps the English URL to the French URL in your situation.

I don’t think there is any app that can solve this issue very well.

THanks for responding. my bilingual shop is at boutique.kolibrico.art I want to create external links from the main menu, but shopify does not allow me to create an external link in the second language. It allows me to change the language of the link, but not to say where to point it, oddly enough. As a temporary solution, I created about us pages in both languages on shopify, but this is not ideal.

The default language is French, since I am here in Quebec.

This is what I need :

1- FRENCH

I want to create an external link from the “Nos Coeurs” menu item in the top navigation and point it to my french about us page con my wordpress website which is here https://kolibrico.art/a-propos-de-nous/

2- ENGLISH and I need to be able to create an external link from the “Our hearts” menu item on the main menu to my english about us page which is here https://kolibrico.art/en/about-us/

3- I may want to add other external links in the future as I want my clients to travel between my shopify store and my wordpress site seamlessly and in the language of their choice.

Is this something you can help with?
