I’m working on setting up the blog for my employer’s new website. I set it up so comments on blog posts have to go through moderation. When doing a test comment, and then going to see how to approve it, I couldn’t figure out there wasn’t anything to click. I can select the unapproved comment, but there was no obvious button to approve it. Eventually on a different comments tab, I saw that the actions button is simply not showing properly. Here are some screenshots of the issue. It also has issues on the list of blog posts. I’m using the most recent version of Chrome on the most recent version of Windows 10. I’ve tried restarting the browser, as well as the computer I’m working at. Do other people see this same issue or is it just me? Why is there not simply an approve button on the comment? Why should I have to select it with the checkbox on the right, even if I’m only moderating a single comment? Seems like a very poorly designed interface.
Just checked Firefox, and it has the exact same issue. The “Actions” button will actually appear if I resize my browser window to be smaller than the “Manage comments” interface.
Now I’m finding that the Android App also cannot approve comments. I can see the comments just like the Desktop site, but now I don’t even have the option of selecting them. Maybe I’m dumb, but I don’t see anyway to approve or deny comments in the app.
So right now the only way to do so is to resize my browser anytime I need to do this because the interface is so poorly designed and non-functioning.
Editing again to add that I realized that the issue with the Android app is a lot of the interface does not appear when using the app in portrait mode (ya know, the way 99.99% use their smartphone 99.99% of the time). If I go to landscape, the checkboxes next to the comments appear, as well as the Actions button once they’re checked.
I really can’t be spending this much time just troubleshooting Shopify’s own UI when I have so much work to be doing on the UI and functionality of the website I’m trying to build. I would have thought the de facto ecommerce platform would be mature by now, and wouldn’t suffer from such rookie bugs and glitches. I’m sure the answer to my issue will be to install and pay for a 3rd party app, since I guess Shopify doesn’t really care about supporting basic tools.
