Hi community,
we have a problem and really need your help.
I’m working for a growing e commerce company/brand, and we recently moved the shop from domain.de with parameters to separate domains for each country (for example .fr and .es). This setup is managed with one account/backend and plugins for translations. This works fine for selling our products in Europe.
Our blog-setup however, doesn’t seem to work that well and for sure can’t be best practice.
If we publish a post for the French market, it gets published on
domain.fr/blogs/fr/french-post
domain.it/blogs/fr/french-post
domain.com/blogs/fr/french-post
domain.es/blogs/fr/french-post
domain.de/blogs/fr/french-post
All these URLs canonicalize back to the domain.de-Version, but it’s not the one shown in the SERPs. In one particular case the French post is indexed with the Domain for France and the Domain for Spain as a duplicate.
To make a long story short, this can’t be the ideal setup to manage multiple blogs for multiple languages within Shopify.
We would like to use a structure like
for German posts and
for French posts and
domain.it/blogs/topic
domain.it/blogs/topic/article
for the blog posts in Italy.
I see a lot of other Shopify shops using that kind of structure, so I’m wondering where we went wrong or which options we have.
Kind regards
Jannik
